If you want to add an avatar image which appears next to your name on the forum, here’s how to do that:

    • After logging in, click on “your account” in the sidebar to the right
    • Scroll down to the avatar section of your profile and upload an image
    • That’s it! Your image will be hosted on Chengdu Living and will appear on the forum

Some background information on this: previously, we were using a service called Gravatar which is a cloud-based global avatar service which is built into WordPress. Unfortunately, it is blocked in China, so we have removed it from Chengdu Living (to increase speed for users without a VPN), so in the future all avatars will be hosted here on the site, and not on Gravatar servers as they were in the past.

You can add image as an attachment.

If you want to include it in between text, upload it to an image hosting website and “insert” it here.

    Or,

    1. Upload as attachment first

    2. Edit your topic

    3. right click on image and copy the link

    4. Insert image from source

    eg:

    Attachments:
You must be logged in to view attached files.

Yeah, it’s just a China firewall issue. Gravatar normally works great, just not in China (as with a lot of things).

You can add image as an attachment.

    Thanks for sharing this info
