What we will do:
Visit the nearest Tibetan village from Chengdu
Interact with Tibetan family and enjoy traditional Tibetan life
Visit a Tibetan temple to learn about Tibetan Buddhism
Leisure walk in the river valley and camp in the forest
Bonfire party with barbecue
Activity introduction:
Mengtun River Valley is about 200km away from Chengdu, where Jiarong Tibetan & Qiang ethnic tribe live. Going up along the massive Minjiang River from Dujiangyan city, with about 3 hours’ drive, we will go into the nearest Tibetan & Qiang Ethnic Tribe area. Legend says that Qiang ethnic tribe living in the upstream of Minjiang River in the high mountain area was the ancestor of Sichuannese.
Here in Mengtun River Valley, there are many villages and rivers. And this 2-day weekend excursion takes us to explore the nearest Tibetan village from Chengdu, walk and camp in the virgin forest. On the way back to Chengdu we will stop to visit another ethnic village called Taoping Qiang Village.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Chengdu to Mengtun Valley (Walk in Muchang Valley)
AM: Drive about 3 hours to Mengtun River Valley
PM: After lunch in the local Tibetan family, walk to the camping site—Muchang Valley
Evening: Bonfire party with barbecue dinner.
Walk information:
Distance: 8km
Time to complete: approx. 2–3 hours
Trail condition: flat valley road, which is about 2-3 meters wide
Day 2 Mengtun Valley to Chengdu via Taoping Qiang Village
AM: We walk back to Tibetan village and walk around the village, visit the Tibetan temple, learn about Tibetan Buddhism.
PM: After lunch we drive back to Chengdu and stop to visit Taoping Qiang Village.
Activity cost: 798rmb/pax
Minimum Size: 15 pax
Date: Every weekend starting from Chengdu
Departure Time: 8:00 AM
Drive time: 3 hours each way
Level of difficulty: Soft walk involved
Meeting place: Nearby Exit A of Tongzilin subway station, between North Tongzilin Road and South Renmin Road
