To celebrate Chengdu’s Art Week, last week the second annual ART CHENGDU contemporary art fair took place at the international exhibition center in the south of the city. Last year the event attracted over 30,000 visitors over the course of a few days and judging by the response to this year’s event, it’s likely that it has grown even larger in one year. Although most were Chinese, over 40 art galleries contributed works to the exhibition in the gargantuan 8,000 square meter facility.
With tickets starting at just 40 RMB for students and 80 RMB for adults, this event was a treat for anyone in Chengdu. Without further ado, here are 20 photos from that event. Click on any of the images to view larger versions.
My last visit to Chengdu was 2008, 11 years ago. This art show demonstrates the very impressive progress of this great city.
The convention center is impressive, but it has been there for a few years. I was really impressed by the quality of the art, though. It was a really enjoyable exhibition with a lot of vibrant contrast.
