Foreigner of 45 countries and districts could enter Chengdu port and stay in Chengdu city area for three days without applying for Chinese visa, only provided with visa of the third country and airline ticket, from September 1, 2013. This policy makes Chengdu benefit for attracting more overseas transfers. Thus, Chengdu becomes the fourth city that implements 72 hours transit without visa same as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou does.
This is pretty cool – I wonder if there are any requirements for getting the 72 hour visa. This would be really convenient for family or friends traveling elsewhere in Asia who might be able to make a flight connection in Chengdu and visit for a weekend. Hopefully this new type of visa is easy and cheap to acquire.
I checked that in Beijing, the foreigner of 45 countries holds entry visa of the third country and well booking air ticket of the third country, through Beijing can apply for 72 hours transit without visa. When through frontier inspection spot, the examine procedure can be transacted by the special frontier inspection area and gallery. Hope Chengdu can be done more quicker and easier.
