October 11, 2012 at 6:17 am #22270BrendanModeratorQuote:Who comes up with these terms anyway?
Why the Electro Jazzists of course!!
I notice they’re making the soundbanks for china-expedisound available for download which is interesting. Cool looking project too, but I wonder if they’re just passing through, making some geographically influenced tunes, and then moving on. Do you know anything more about this Horac?
Here’s a release from a friend of mine hailing from Ireland who’s been making some seriously good DnB for a while now. This is the first release on his own label, Pressin’ Hard Records.
October 11, 2012 at 6:20 am #22271CharlieKeymasterNew Macklemore (Seattle rapper) album just came out and is #1 on iTunes. Thrift Shop and Same Love are the two popular singles off the album, one is fun and silly and the other is a rap video about marriage equality:
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Thrift Shop
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Same Love
Quote:Sorry Charlie but when I see/hear the words “electro jazz” it makes me cringe. Who comes up with these terms anyway? Not the artists themselves I am guessing. The music community around that particular style comes up with the name. Electro jazz seems like a pretty benign name to me, I don’t see why it’s a big deal.
Quote:Well, on to new music. If you like techno like I do, the new Redshape album has got me excited. A great talent in the techno world anyway. What’s your opinion?I haven’t heard of Redshape but I will look into it. I went to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival twice and saw some great techno performances, and overall the genre strikes me as good dance music but otherwise it’s not something that I really listen to much. If you have something to recommend, post a youtube clip here.
Quote:somebody asked bout melting pot of electronics and traditional chinese instruments… so here is very nice projectDamn son, where’d you find this?? Sounds great!

October 11, 2012 at 6:31 am #22272Horac PantocParticipantBrendan: as i know from previous expeditions (expedisound mongolia and indonesia), they are bunch of travellers whos take inspiration from places where they already are… make some records of classical instruments played by people they met and then send it to electronic music producers around the world… but this is just one pattern… my internet connection here is extremly slow, so i cant watch youtbue videos… im sure there is more info about this project…

Not surprising! I’m glad to see Macklemore blowing up the iTunes rankings right now. Finally the likes of Katy Perry and Justin Bieber get knocked off!
Quote:Redshape – Groom [Running Back]Pretty cool, very minimal. It would be nice to hear stuff like this in a club.
Quote:Imogen Heap is back with Deadmau5 ~~~http://soundcloud.com/alex-mcghee/deadmau5-imogen-heap-telemiscommunications
I heard this track a few weeks ago, it’s my favorite on the new Deadmau5 album. Not bad, not bad at all.

October 18, 2012 at 9:45 am #22509EliParticipantIn honor of the approaching Halloween, enjoy my favorite corporate zombie parody song:
http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/Og9HQabuFfE/
The lyrics of this tune – especially verse two and three – always crack me up.
October 18, 2012 at 9:47 am #22511EliParticipantAnd a Chinese translation of the lyrics for those interested:
October 22, 2012 at 9:24 am #22653CharlieKeymasterNEW WU TANG!
I had no idea that RZA has directed a kung fu movie called Man With the Iron Fists until the other day. The soundtrack is already out and it’s really good (as you’d expect from RZA of Wu Tang). It’s great to see an all-Wu Tang collab in 2012!
The Wu-Tang Clan – Six Directions of Boxing
Funny to see Wiz Khalifa and Ghostface on the same track too, considering how much glorious trash talking Ghost has done.
New Kendrick Lamar album also but I haven’t been listening to it much when it’s competing with Iron Fists…
October 23, 2012 at 8:16 am #22697EliParticipantAction Bronson is dropping a new mixtape with Alchemist. If you haven’t seen this video Charlie, you should watch it right now, its hilarious:

That video is incredible, hahaha! Action Bronson has a great sense of humor. Just seeing him run around on the street is funny, he is comedically obese like Chris Farley. Thanks for the heads up on the Alchemist mix, aside from being a great video this is good music.
October 25, 2012 at 12:56 pm #22824piano tunaParticipantItal Tek’s new album is sexy: link
