ParticipantQuote:Not since Alive 2007, which is why I’m looking forward to it…although I’m a bit of a Daft Punk fanboy so that could also be whyYou missed my point. Pre-2000 they were amazing but they haven’t released anything brilliant since Homework. Actually Discovery was maybe passable but the rest of their output hasn’t been great. I’ll obviously still check it out, just probably not worth getting excited about. I’d love to be proved wrong about that.
Check out Bangalter’s EPs from the mid 90s, Spinal Scratch and Trax on da Rocks 1 & 2. All better than anything produced by Daft Punk post-homework.

ParticipantSad day for metal fans with the passing of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman at age 49. While perhaps not the most accomplished of shredders, Jeff had his own unique style which suited Slayer perfectly, and he will be missed. Onward to the abyss Jeff….

ParticipantHere’s a cool link. That’s Jeff on the left, with the blonde hair. “Raining Blood”. Undoubtedly his most famous riff.
Great live band. Scariest mosh pit i ever experienced, San Diego 2006….

ModeratorQuote:Brendan, they just released an interview with Giorgio Moroder yesterdayI only just noticed this Andy, thanks. Had a look through the interviews and listened to Pharrell’s colab and have to say it feels kind of weak so far. Interesting that Sony/Columbia are putting such a big push on it.

ParticipantDeerhunter is sounding pretty good so far, rawer then their more recent stuff, which is good in my opinion.
Another little 4AD group (called, ahem the National – AKA “I was afraid I’d eat your brains… ‘Cause I’m evil” ) are also sounding pretty good:
Anyone bothered with the Daft Punk album yet??

Sounds a lot different, way less ambient. Agree that its really good.
Is the National album out yet? I’ll need to get my hands on that. Last one was top notch.
Was well disappointed with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album.

I’ve been listening to this a lot since getting it on Friday. It doesn’t sound much like previous Daft Punk material but it’s spectacular in a more chilled out way.

Hooooo, I had no idea a new Boards album was coming out! When I received notification of your post I was listening to this song by total coincidence:
Highly anticipating the new album!
