Here’s to the Chinese Gov’t for pushing positive legislation that would simply not happen in so many other countries, kudos to them:

Yeah i could always use more speed to download my porn 🙂

Jokes aside, not bad at all but what are they gonna do with already exiting usual networks? Changing all that to fiber would cause a serious ass pain to anybody doing it.

The same telecom companies provide service whether you go Fiber or ADSL. The legislation is simply saying any new building developers need to actively make Fiber available immediately to all new homes, it’s a good thing – Telecom companies/gov’t has pretty consistently been rolling out fiber all over the place, this is really just a new initiative to roll it out faster and more broadly… also the legislation only applies to new buildings, not changing all of the old ones – that would be a little bit crazy in this short of a timespan 😀

This is awesome, though I can’t help feeling they should have rolled it out long before so much current or complete construction got underway. Laying cables is not the most disruptive task in the world, but retrofitting across the city is one hell of an undertaking. This is good news though all the same.
