Any recommendations for something half-decent that’s able to bake bread and cakes in addition to pizzas?
December 20, 2012 at 2:46 am #24801FedericoParticipantUsually I buy online from JingDong, you can register an account free (I used page translator of Chrome) and after you can pay when goods will be delivered at home.

December 20, 2012 at 2:54 am #24802CharlieKeymasterYou’d have to get a pretty large one to make pizza, but they’re reasonably priced. The Jingdong links above are exactly what you’re looking for. One great thing about Jingdong is that you can have them delivered to you (same day if I’m not mistaken) and pay with cash on arrival, which beats the Zhifubao hassle of Taobao.
One thing I’ve noticed is that in China, toaster ovens seem to be called “ovens” (there is no distinction between the two).
You can do a lot with a toaster oven, though. Larry at Natooke makes delicious banana bread regularly with a small toaster oven that sits in the shop. Great thing to have, especially in the winter.
December 20, 2012 at 3:47 am #24804FedericoParticipantBanana bread (I think it’s loveable), toast, sandwich, crepes, piadina, pizza, meat… shit isn’t lunch time but I must eat something!
I’m checking for this:

P.S.
If you buy on JingDong check a good price/feedback ratio, isn’t a big problem because is a “safe shop” but it’s better.
Over products list, you can order buy price with this button 价格 or by feedback by this 评论数
December 20, 2012 at 4:55 am #24805BrianParticipantI’ve heard good things about “chandi” or “tomato” brand ovens

December 20, 2012 at 5:13 am #24810FedericoParticipantAhahahah it’s a waffle maker? shit, look like pizza/sandwich maker!
This is another reason for learn chinese…
I think cook at home it’s better way for save money and maybe is an italian problem, have an “equipped kitchen” 😉
Maybe this is better for sandwich and more cheap because use gas?
December 20, 2012 at 10:38 am #24826JeniseParticipantI’ve been using my rice cooker to make cakes.
December 20, 2012 at 11:00 am #24827FedericoParticipantA nice idea Jenise for cook cake!
December 20, 2012 at 2:16 pm #24831trudatParticipantHere’s the Tomato oven we bought on Taobao: link
It was a bit cheaper when I bought it last month, just 448 plus 50 shipping. The rotisserie function works great, that is as long as you don’t buy 老母鸡 from Trustmart like I did! That old hen was inedibly rubbery.
December 21, 2012 at 3:09 pm #24853GAVVIEParticipantThe 2nd of the 3 items looks like a sandwich press.What I need… with coffee.
December 24, 2012 at 3:14 am #24878CharlieKeymasterQuote:Here’s the Tomato oven we bought on Taobao: linkThanks for the suggestion, I think I’ll get that model. Seems to meet my criteria on price and size. It’s finally oven time.
Quote:What I need… with coffee.I recently got back onto coffee since it’s the perfect winter drink in the morning. Get an Aeropress! Search for it on Taobao.
