Dojo 2-Year Birthday Party on Saturday

This Saturday we are hosting the 2-year birthday party of Dojo, our beloved house in the Flower Town district of Chengdu. If you don’t know what Dojo is, check our website: Chengdu Dojo

At this event, we are proud to be cooperating with some of the best in Chengdu. Aside from our usual setup, of the city’s best DJs performing on 3 stages in and outside of our house, we are upping the ante:

• Dance battle hosted by Sinostage, featuring Chengdu’s best freestyle dancers. The battle will take place between midnight and 1am, don’t miss it.
• Custom Dojo donuts made by Johnny 5 Donuts, Chengdu’s premier donut shop. There will be a limited amount of these available at Dojo on Saturday.
• Live graffiti by Gas and crew, the best graffiti artists in Western China and arguably in all of China. If you aren’t familiar with Gas, read our interview with him and check out some of his work in this article we published several years ago: Interview with Chengdu’s Most Prolific Graffiti Artist: Gas
• Live visuals by PLGRM in the main room, using LED strip lights. This is something that we have never done before: a projection-less visual show. Read more information about PLGRM and see videos of their live installations on the Disco Death website.

This is in addition to fire poi, beer pong, delicious pizza, the best barbecue in Chengdu (compliments of the Iron Pig, our neighbor in Flower Town), and so much more. You must come to Dojo to witness this. If you haven’t been before, this is a great time to visit.

The Iron Pig is a new American smoked barbecue restaurant located in Flower Town, across the street from Dojo. If you haven’t heard of this place before, visit Dojo on Saturday and try some of their amazing food. Thanks to everyone who came to Dojo on Saturday, that might have been the biggest one we have ever hosted! We sold out of everything, for the first time ever.

Specific thanks to:

• The VJs who created amazing visuals, from the projection-mapped mask outside to the sound-reactive LED lights in the family room
• Gas for creating even more excellent graffiti
• Justin and his crew @ The Iron Pig for serving delicious pork sandwiches and sides
• Johnny 5 for making and serving custom Dojo donuts at the event. Pleasure to host you!
• Brian for serving his Pepi’s Big Adventure huajiao-infused locally brewed beer. If you haven’t had it, it’s available at Red Beard Burgers in Tongzilin
• All of the DJs, especially Enso and Liu Liu from Hong Kong, and Austin (Lostn Sound) who played 3x in different areas of the house
• Eugene and Enrique for flying all the way from Thailand just for this
• Sinostage for organizing and hosting a dance battle

I’m probably forgetting people. Anyway, we had a great time. This was one we won’t forget.
