    Hello!

Would it be troublesome for a foreigner to apply for a Chinese L visa in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap ?

I’m not certain, but you might want to contact the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh to be totally sure.

Just did the inquiry. According to some posts, since 2011 Chinese Embassies are not keen on issuing any visas for foreigners in Vietnam as well as in Cambodia.

Wanted to check if anyone has a different experience lately.

Can’t comment on Cambodia but got a 6 month F visa in Hanoi in January. Others were getting tourist visas. The staff at the consulate was incredibly rude and didn’t seem happy to give visas but were doing it.

Defo in Saigon go via an agent takes two days and saves you the hassle of going to the Embassey. I had some friends refused in Hanoi, because they did not wear a shirt and shoes.

Consider myself pretty liberal, but refusing entrance to a government building on the grounds that one is not wearing a shirt and shoes seems reasonable…

    I guess Walter was wrong:

“Smokey, this is not ‘Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.”
