I know this is probably not the best place to find out the answer for my question since not everyone here is native english speaker. It’s just interesting to hear how ppl pronounce same words differently from region to region.

    Here we go.

I came out with this question when I tried to remove a crapy anti-virus software.

So how do you pronounce the word “anti”? ant-eye or ant-ee.

I think ant-ee is the British way, but I am not so sure. I heard ppl say both ant-eye and ant-ee in Canada.

I am not a native speaker. I’ve been saying ant-eye because the first time I heard ppl pronounce this word is ant-eye.

    So how about you?

If you are answering this question, plz mention where are you from (country and province/state)

    Cheers

I would go for the latter.

I’m English (British) and have always only heard, as you would say “Ant-ee” or “Ant” (like the insect) and “Tea” (like the drink), never “Ant-eye”. Maybe “Ant-eye” is American? Don’t know, never heard it said like that.

    Hope this helps.

I say both, it depends on the usage. Mostly “ant-eye”, though.

For example I’d say “ant-eye” disestablishmentarianism (the longest English word!) but also “ant-ee” virus.

    I’m American.
