    Can anybody suggest a shoe store in Chengdu that sells men’s shoes for foreigner-sized feet? We looked at Raffles City Mall just to start with, and didn’t find anything larger than a US 10. When we asked one of the sales people if she had a size 45Eu/US 11, she burst out in a guffaw and said something like OMG NO! It was pretty funny. Luckily, the son with size 14’s isn’t here and in need of shoes. We can get them online, it’s just usually better if you can try them on first. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Yeah man, I’m 45 and they laugh at me too. Hit Decathlon, near IKEA. They have 45+ but the range is kinda limited and can be pricey eg. Salomons for 1400 kuai…

    I wear US 12, or size 46 in China, and if I’m buying in China, I always order from Taobao. At most stores the largest size they have is 45 I find, but finding size 46 on Taobao isn’t much of a hassle at all. I suggest trying that.

    One easy way to find whatever kind of shoes you want is just search for the type of shoes you want and then the size, like “Nike 46” and hundreds of results will come up, all of them available in size 46.

    Yeah – it’s easier to find basketball shoes than others. The last pair of shoes I bought in China were gym shoes from a nike shop on ChunXiLu – basically I went through the process of “Do you have this in 45?” “No” “Do you have this in 45?” “No”.. then just said “what _do_ you have in 45” – and went from there. They had 1 horribly ugly basketball shoe, and another shop had the same model in a different colour which was acceptable to me. I tried the ugly one on for fit, paid for the better colour, they ran and got it.

    In other words, it’s very difficult to find what you’re looking for here in 45+, but if you simply need a shoe it’s better to go to an area with _lots_ of shoes and ask what they have in your size..then go from there. ChunXiLu has several shops with the same brands, so I think they may have better inventory selections (since they can call their neighbouring shops, saving some time)

    I suggest Amazon.cn for three reasons:

    1) they have a selection of large sizes shoes (up to 49);

    2) they currently have a very good promotion (30% off if your purchase reach 200kuai or 400kuai) (this link will lead you to all shoes currently in promotion at amazon.cn in size 46: Link

    3) just like Amazon.com, Amazon.cn provides free shipping (as far as the price is above 29kuai) and free return (make sure you choose Amazon.cn as the seller! Other sellers will ask return shipping fee). You can submit your return request online, and amazon will have their delivery person come to your door to pickup shoes (as far as the shoe is in the state you received them, and in the original packaging).

    One drawback is that amazon.cn doesn’t provide an English version.

    Great suggestion, I haven’t ordered shoes from Amazon.cn before but that does sound worth trying.

    I always order from amazon.cn. Very satisfied with their services and when there’re promotions, the price is much better than department stores, and you don’t need to worry about counterfeits.

    I don’t know how good the product is, but there is a shop next to my house (First ring road between Sichuan stadium subway station and Yu Lin Bei Lu, across from the Everyday Market next to the footbridge) that says in Chinese: Large sized shoes. They’re all leather. I don’t know anything about quality but at least they’ve got selection where you probably won’t hear “mei you” 10 out of 11 times.
