Movie Title Translations

So I was in the mood to watch something random on PPTV and I found a movie called ‘Madea Goes to Jail’ on PPTV. I looked up at the title which is the Chinese translation of the movies’ name and it comes up as ‘Black crazy bitch downtown prison’ ha ha I never would have guessed it would come up as that!!

Often the Chinese names of movies and tv shows have nothing to do with the English title. Examples:

Payback (starring Mel Gibson): 危险人物 (Dangerous Man)

Lost in Translation: 迷失东京 (Lost in Tokyo)

Breaking Bad: 绝命毒师 (Ill-Fated Drug Dealer)
