Let’s go rock climbing this Thursday! I’m told that it’s technically called “bouldering” since the climbing space is much wider than it is high, but the place is still cheap, fun, and great exercise.

I asked about rock climbing places in Chengdu about one month ago and ended up finding one right next to the Tongzilin Carrefour in the South of Chengdu. I checked it out and had a good time, you can see my photos here: Rock Climbing Places in Chengdu.

The cost is 30 yuan for 2 hours and the place is indoors and has foosball and seating around the climbing area with mats. I’m sure bringing some drinks in the there won’t be a problem and they sell water for 2 yuan. All around a very decent place.

The place is in the open-air shopping mall next to Carrefour and it’s called ??????.

    The address is: ???????85????????E?4-5?

    Phone numbers are: 82955931 & 82955932

    Time to meet: 8pm

    Who’s in?

Good times last night! My forearms hurt. It turns out that Brian and Greg are experienced climbers, so it was good to learn something new. Next time we’ll either go to the university which has a higher wall or arrange a trip to hit the mountain in Pingle which is a few hours outside of Chengdu.

Hey, is this still going on? I went today, albeit in the afternoon, but would love to meet up with some other climbers.

Kinda, I’m going tonight. We usually go kinda late.

On a related note – anybody want to go climb outside? I’ve got a trad rack that’s getting dusty.

I brought some gear with me as well; 2 sets of nuts and a set of cams, some slings.

Awesome! I haven’t been to the local crags, from what I’ve gathered they are more about sport. But there are some big granite walls & peaks out there too.
