So, like a complete dipshit, I didn’t check if the black box on my mixboard cord was a downconverter BEFORE I plugged it in. Yeah. Smoke came out of the box, and the cord no longer works. I think that the short circuit in the cord saved the mixboard before it was damaged, but now I need (NEED) and new cord before my gig on Friday. Does anyone know where I might purchase such a thing? I’m headed to the Chengdu Music College area tomorrow to hunt around but I am basically stabbing in the dark. If you know a particular shop name or anything like that, I’d be forever grateful. The mixboard is a Yamaha MG82cx…

Ouch! Glad you didn’t do something more serious. I toasted my hair clippers when I arrived in Chengdu.

If you plan to set up your audio equipment at home you might want to check this out: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=0.0.0.0.F9UaiF&id=4793905800

I shipped my midi studio out from Canada (110V), so this is what I am using to run everything through. It’s been running hassle free for over a year.

At the same time, After I search taobao in english, find that they also appeared in a english taobao as follow:

Looks legit to me. I have ordered probably hundreds of things off Taobao and I would say the rate of incident is easily below 5%. Look for sellers with a lot of good feedback and many sales within the last 30 days.
