This individual is a Technical Writer within the Active organization. This role will be involved in many product lines and focus on the authoring, editing, maintaining, and updating documentation used by the end users of our products. Working in conjunction with documenters, developers, testers, and product marketing analysts, the Technical Writer will work within the software development life cycle to deliver documentation in a timely manner that is consistent in form and of the highest quality.
Responsibilities:
-Design, create, maintain and update many types of technical documentation, online help, user guides, white papers, and other documents.
-Practices and understands structured authoring.
-Create accurate, relevant, and complete documentation for any given audience.
-Demonstrate a mix of technical and language abilities.
-Demonstrated knowledge of multiple technical areas, in particular the software development cycle, and Internet related technologies, methodologies, and trends.
Requirements:
-1+ year relevant experience.
-Relative 4 year bachelor degree majoring in English
-Excellent command of written English; Able to write clearly and concisely.
-Preference will be given to candidates with 2+ years of direct experience in software technical or Help system documentation.
-Demonstrated knowledge of structured authoring and version control software.
-Experience collaborating with remote/satellite teams a plus.
-A fast learner able to understand the details of our products, so that they may accurately communicate in writing to our customers.
-Self-motivated and well organized, with a commitment to quality and an excellent eye for detail.
-Able to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
-Work well independently and in a team, organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and good decision making and issue resolution.
-Capable of gathering product and project information from multiple sources and comfortable communicating with stakeholders across the organization
-Strong customer service orientation.
-Experience using Microsoft Word and RoboHelp.
-Adobe Framemaker experience a plus.
