I had a bud in college who ‘just’ played Diablo II when it came out. What do i mean ‘just?’ He was the number one ranked player in the world. He skipped classes, martial arts (one of my former training partners) and other things to just play Diablo.
So what happened after that? Well, he bought me to the casino, into the high roller section (he’s Jewish with money up the ass) and told me there was a glitch in the game. He watched in horror as his player was being killed by a NPC. Nothing could be done.
All in all, i got a free meal at the casino via high roller section buffet, while he was letting go of his diablo life.
Small tidbit, his ABC roomie just randomly told me he did blow. Only after i asked ‘why did you quit bjj?’ Never met anyone who did blow, let along admitting it. Hope hes clean now. Step one, admitting to a stranger that you do crack heh.
May 4, 2012 at 4:20 pm #18762Chris ZiichModerator@JerryS: off topic but blow and crack are not the same thing. crack is significantly worse but if your friend was rich, he was probably snorting coke.
Anyways, I’d be in, but my 6year old computer won’t run it.
May 4, 2012 at 4:49 pm #18763JerrySParticipant@CZ: ha thanx for the drug lesson. I failed D.A.R.E. failed it soo bad that i could not get the free t-shirt!
Does anyone play Dota 2? I suck at it so bad, but its addicting as hell.
May 4, 2012 at 5:44 pm #18764Rick in ChinaParticipantI don’t see the relationship between coke/crack and DiabloIII, except that MMOs are often addictive (ie. Everquest = EverCrack)..but eh? WHO WANTS TO PLAY A BARBARIAN!
May 4, 2012 at 5:57 pm #18765CharlieKeymasterI haven’t bought this yet but I’ll mess with it. I’ll try to get it pre-loaded before the 15th.
May 5, 2012 at 3:10 am #18768ZharahkParticipantWould like to play a monk on the team. By the way, I remember reading that groups could only have up to 4 players. If there is enough interest maybe we can have two (or more) teams play on different days/evenings. My best time to play is Wednesday evenings.
May 7, 2012 at 11:45 am #18785Rick in ChinaParticipantIf anyone needs the D3 client – I’ve got it, it’s 7.6gb. Send me a message if you’ve a USB or something and want to grab a copy.
May 7, 2012 at 11:46 pm #18796CharlieKeymasterI got D3 preloaded also now
May 9, 2012 at 5:33 am #18818EliasParticipantIn the process of clearing up 12 GB of space on my HD to fit D3. I was glad to learn that I just barely squeak by on the videocard requirements and I hope d3 isn’t plagued by lag like d2 (and huge necromancer armies!)
I’m going witch doctor first as it is closest to necromancer who sadly didn’t make the cut. Weds isn’t good for me as I have writing group, unless its after 930 or 10pm. Or I suppose I could just camp in the bookworm as they have AC afterall.
May 14, 2012 at 10:20 am #18854ZharahkParticipantDo any of you use any 3rd party audio chat software while playing these games? I was looking at some of them and this Vivox C3 looks pretty good/easy. I’ll have to test it out this week. See you in D3 soon!
May 14, 2012 at 4:58 pm #18857Chris ZiichModeratorskype.
May 15, 2012 at 12:24 am #18858Rick in ChinaParticipantI’m sure D3 has a built in chat feature without needing a 3rd party software – but it’ll likely be limited to the 4 players in the game. Most games end up with their guild/groups on Ventrillo or Teamspeak, depends how many people play together really, and whether or not D3 allows for channels/chats based on b.net battletags rather than only those in the instance, we’ll find out soon!
May 15, 2012 at 3:24 am #18860ZharahkParticipant@Chris – Skype seems a bit of a bandwidth hog. We’ll probably need all we can get if connecting from here to the NA servers.
@Rick – I read that they decided not to include voice in D3. I looked at Ventrillo and Teamspeak (as well as Mumble). Ventrillo (and Mumble) seemed to have a lot of bells and whistles that I don’t need and you need to setup your own server, which uses bandwidth and CPU I would rather use for the game. Teamspeak had servers, but they have a cost. C3 seemed simple and their servers are free and also are up 99.9% of the time. I still have not tested it yet though.
Oh, this morning I clicked Install and it started installing! I think we’ll be able to play starting at 3:00pm our time. 🙂

Zharahk#1454
May 16, 2012 at 5:34 am #18876ZharahkParticipantGot in about 10:00pm last night. Made a wizard and ran around for a little bit before bed. Am planning to take one of every character class to like level 10 to get a feel for how they play before picking my main.
Reminded me a little of Dungeon Seige, which I liked a lot.
May 16, 2012 at 5:45 am #18877EliasParticipantZharahk d3 is pretty cool huh? Way more strategy and skill than d2 and I’m amazed how long act 1 took. I’m lvl 15 WD and just starting act 2
I recommend you make a monk or barb ASAP (seeing that you are a low lvl wizard fine to restart) if we are going to have a solid chengdu d3 group then we are in desperate need of a tank!
There are way too many wizards and demon hunters, in the 7 hours or so of gameplay I only saw 1 barb (this morning) and 2 monks.
