A friend has been sending me voice messages on Weixin over the last hour describing an experience at a restaurant in Chengdu for lunch today. Check this out and someone please say something if you’ve seen anything even close to as bizarre as this:
Sitting alone at a restaurant in Yulin eating lunch and there was someone sitting across from her calmly drinking water out of an ashtray. She looked on with fascination as he continued to drink out of the ashtray, and when he was finished, he put the ashtray into his jacket pocket and lit a cigarette. He gave her a bad look but didn’t say anything and he left shortly afterwards.

unfortunately, it was a way people smoked in old china, 水烟, smoking through water; or simply enjoying nicotine disolved in water.
