AMParticipant
Have you looked at QSI or BIBS? I think both may be cheaper than Leman / CDIS.
If you send me your wechat I could put you in touch with people there.
AMParticipantI think it will be very difficult to get tickets for this. It’s game one of the finals tonight.
Tickets for the semi-finals were sold out and I heard something about people queuing overnight to get tickets for the finals. Best bet would be getting down to the stadium early and buying from a scalper, but tickets probably won’t be cheap.
EDIT: Schedule of Game 1 to Game 4
Finals – Round 1
Mar. 11, 2016 Liaoning H. – Sichuan BW
Finals – Round 2
Mar. 13, 2016 Liaoning H. – Sichuan BW
Finals – Round 3
Mar. 16, 2016 Sichuan BW – Liaoning H.
Finals – Round 4
Mar. 18, 2016 Sichuan BW – Liaoning H.AMParticipantIs anybody interested in some part-time work in wenjiang? I have a friend that is looking for an English teacher. Please send a PM if you’re interested.
AMParticipantThis group is pretty much only for moaning about how shit we are at football and rugby but feel free to join.
AMParticipantThere is a nice indoor and outdoor pool at Club Le Parc, close to the No 1 hospital.
AMParticipantLooking forward to this, last year was excellent.
AMParticipantThe consulate basically said its up to the mood of the guy/girl at the counter if they grant a visa on a Chinese passport if you already have an American one
I made a mistake of rushing into getting the British passport then had to lie when applying for my son’s British visa. Didn’t really have any other option because he couldn’t leave the country on his British passport or Chinese passport with no visa.
Not sure about America but in the UK you can get a right of abode. It’s like a permanent visa in the Chinese passport allowing you to come and go as you please. It’s far more suitable for your situation and with hindsight it’s the route I should’ve went down.
AMParticipantThe whole article boils down to he talks to a local vegetable seller and made friends at university. wow.
AMParticipantLooking for a teacher for a summer camp starting Monday July 6th.

AMParticipantI didnt have to get anything translated.
AMParticipantThere is also the Sunbirds Ladies Soccer team. PM me and I’ll put you in touch.
AMParticipantAM did you have to do any paperwork yourself regarding the 准生证 (zhun sheng zheng) ?
Not that I can remember.
AMParticipant“At not one point was this experience a good one. There was no care in the so called caring system.”
haha. Yep, good ol’ huaxi. Man, the worst thing about the place is all the men sitting on the chairs in the waiting rooms as the pregnant woman stood. Made my blood boil.
AMParticipantQuick question, does anybody know where I could view the figures for daily aqi high/low levels over a long period of time?
AMParticipant@AM yeh we were forced to pick a Chinese name to put on her birth cert also – then later can change the ‘official name’ back in Canada and re-issue relevant IDs. When you say don’t plan on using the UK passport unless permanently moving back to the UK – since your son will require the exit visa, at that point, they’d revoke his hukou & Chinese ID anyways yeh? And the question becomes whether they would deem the child illegally being in China somehow since they had a foreign ID/citizenship issued (date will be in the passport!) but did not properly revoke the Chinese ID, and maybe some sort of penalty or fine or whatever for not going through the process then and getting appropriate visa sorted? No idea, just spitballing, that whole spaghetti shit mess is what I’m mostly concerned with..
How it goes in my head is…apply for a tourist visa for uk, exit china on the tourist visa, use the uk passport to enter the country on arrival. Probably a lot of holes in that idea but I haven’t really thought it through. Talking about at least 5 years from now, who knows what the rules will be like then.
AMParticipantI’m in chongqing right now applying for a British passport for my son. We got an English and Chinese name on his birth certificate but the hospital called us two weeks ago to tell us that English names aren’t allowed now. If we don’t return the birth certificate by March 10th they’ll revoke his hukou & Chinese ID. So we’ve applied for the British passport now to save hassle later. I don’t plan on using it unless we make a permanent move back to the UK.
AMParticipantOnly time I’ve really seen vinyls getting sold here is after gigs at the little bar. There should be more about considering Guangzhou is the vinyl capital of the world.
AMParticipantReally enjoyed last night. Didn’t enjoy waking up for work this morning.
AMParticipantThere were a lot less fireworks than normal last year. Bit of a shame because previous years were crazy for it.
Oh, if you know of any grave sites, I think it’s the 3rd day where families visit the tombstones with photos on them and put fruit, cigarettes, incense, etc. And of course blow everything they can up. At least in those areas, they have big cement bins where the firecrackers are (usually) tossed…but again, with so much firecrackers, the air is *thick* with gunpowdery scented fog..but still might be interesting to see the typical offerings & prayer process.
I’ve done this once or twice but I think most families go 2/3 weeks before CNY now to avoid the rush.
AMParticipantI strongly recommend people make it out to support these kinds of events, firstly because they’re great, and secondly so we get more of them! The culture scene here can feel pretty limited, so gotta support these kinds of events when they make it here. Cheers, Rob!
100% agree.
