By the way just out of curiosity, how much would a brand new Mercedes C class cost?

I bought a second hand C-class Mercedes from the 4S garage last year and it cost me 220,000rmb. Had about 38,000km on the clock and around 3-4 years old. Hope that gives you an idea.

Last month took the United Airlines new route from Chengdu to San Francisco, plane is brand new, a Boeing Dreamliner so plenty of space for hand luggage and leg room and good on board entertainment. Its a long flight at around 13 hours. The service isnt as good as KLM, there isn’t as much food and their was a long break between the meals. On KLM there is a small tuck shop in the galley which is great to nibble on but nothing like this on United. They came round with some snacks but not as good and limited.
Overall super handy that there is this new route and I’m sure it will be busy, just eat well before you get on the plane.
    Enjoy Cali.

Yes best to take them back to the main dealer for repairs, I insured my car with Mercedes so any problems just take it back to them and they will fix but there are plenty of smaller cheaper places.

Lets go car shopping when you are here, when I sell the MG TF I’m thinking of getting a Toyota GT86, looks a sweet car.

    Hi Graeme
I know BMW have a large department for used cars as does Mercedes, pretty sure VW and Audi do too.

Last month I bought a C-Series from Mercedes second hand department, it is 3 years old and cost me 22,000 GBP which I thought was a good deal for here. The insurance was 700GBP a year and buying from the dealership the car came with one years warranty.

Hope that gives you an idea

Second hand cars are not so cheap here, infact they are dam expensive compared to the UK. There are 2 main second hand car markets here, Dont have the address to hand but if you want to take a look once you are here just drop me a message and can go see whats out there.
Best to buy a foreign brand as a Chinese car is just junk.
I got a sweet MG TF convertible going if you are interested;)

Drop me a line once you are here and we can go an take a look, always fun checking out what is on the market.

Just got back from watching IM3, I enjoyed it, way more than The Avengers which I thought was poor. Ben Kingsley stole it for me, great part and completely didn’t expect that about his character. The tacked on Chinese parts were just stupid, thank god the rest of the world doesn’t have to see that crap.

Chengdu – Phuket was with China Eastern, direct flight. 10 minutes before the flight Sichuan airlines also had a direct flight to Phuket too.

Nice tip about going via Chongqing, will consider this in future.

Chengdu to Frankfurt has/is starting soon and well as British Airways direct to London which will be great for me.

For the life of me I cant remember much about the Tokyo trip was last year and my assistant booked it. Think it was Air China, led to believe it was direct at the time. Anyway will always double check in the future.

I want to do the Kuala Lumpur trip with Air Asia again. Did KL and Langkawai in 2008 from Hangzhou. Thought Malaysia was great, awesome food and cheap prices. Will go back again.

Air Asia always have some good deals on, worth being on their mailing list to get the latest deals.

    Hey Federico

I’m always looking for projects to invest in, an F&B venture could be interesting and is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now.

I’m out of town till the 29th, perhaps we could meet in May to share ideas.

Drop me a message if you are interested

That photo from Yaan is fake apparently. So I’ve been told, think the Sichuan government disclaimed it.

The first time I was in an earthquake was in Tokyo at an auction, it was a really violent one and the building was rocking around. I was scared as hell and didn’t know what to do, looked around for help to only realize that everybody else was carrying on as usual and that this was no big deal to them.

First thing my wife said was go outside, I don’t understand this thinking really. Go outside so you can be hit my a random piece of debris falling from a building. Death by falling plant pot is never cool. Rather stay inside and find a secure place where stuff can’t fall on me, well except the building.
