I like to explore nearby areas of the city. Last weekend went to Shuangliu and checked out some of the neighborhoods there and took photographs. It’s nice to get outside of the usual places in the city.

I live in Shuangliu county as well. Which area/neighbourhoods did you visit?

Any one interested in camping on the weekend?

Let me know if you plan to camp in Dujiangyan. I usually spend weekends in Qinchengshan town at in-laws’ place. We can help you organize.

$ocks5 proxies works well. But it’s better not to rely on service providers (unless they give you dedicated IP).

PM (wechat:xonikk) if you need help setting up a custom server.

It’s easy as 1,2,3 but complete before the current visa expires. I recommend going to PSB and obtain a brochure which provides list steps (with what documents) are quired. One thing to keep in mind, you can then obtain the one year or two year visa. Pros/cons: The one year is much faster and the two year requires the same documents plus a complete physical, which adds a little bit more processing time as you have to wait for the results.

Great, thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll go to PSB and get that brochure thingy asap.

Nice. Have you noticed a lot of VPNs getting shut down?

    Yeah.

GreenVPN will shut down their services on July 1 (https://www.greenjsq.me/).

By the way, these guys are focusing middle-east users. I don’t know much about demand for VPNs in the middle-east. They rolled out the android app recently and asked whether I can help them test it.

Since ShadowSocks ≠ VPN, I hope it won’t affect SocketPro and similar services.

I’ve never been to a club that played latest chunes from RAM, Hospital or Viper fam (I like these sounds). And I don’t go to clubs these days.

But I’m pretty sure there are hip-hop / jungle / dnb events happening here every now and then.

I bet Charlie (admin/moderator) will share some info later on.

Hi there, I’d be happy to help you build a (self-hosted) website for China. If you can provide me the content and other requirements, I’ll do the design, dev. ,hosting and optimization.

If it’s a small website, I’d suggest to DIY. You might wanna check out the articles I wrote about web design/dev best practices for China and tips on how to set up a self-hosted website:

Hey there Millymoo(?), I think you are on my WeChat. But forgot your real name.

I’d be interested in starting a English speaking support group.

I’m currently working a website for creative people based in Chengdu (musicians, all sort of artists and techies). It’s called chengducollective.com.

Maybe we can start an online support group with the  subdomain  “support.chengducollective.com.”  How does that sound?

Reply me here or lets talk more on WeChat (xonikk)

So I don’t get the permit right away? How long does it take? Can I leave the country while i am waiting? Sorry for all the questions mate. But i really can’t find the answer anywhere.

For me, it took 4 – 5 weeks–I guess, forgot that.

Do not plan to travel outside the Mainland soon after you arrive.

When your permit is being processed you will not have your passport. So I am afraid you can’t leave the country. Be prepared, LOL.

So the best way to do it is: first, find an apartment and sign the contract second, go to the police station and get the permit (Do i get it right away?) third, permit get and all good? Is that it?

    1. Find apartment, sign contract

    2. Just report at the nearest police station and register your new address there.

    3. Get permit, its a long haul process. (not from police station, it will be issued from PSB office, your school will help you with that)

    4. Once you get the permit, report at the police station again

    Claude,

Before falling into the clutches of an agent, read this:

I’m not sure how it is like for a student. for me it was from Z Visa to residence permit.

Assuming that you are arriving here with a X Visa (?), here are the things you should do:

// note: After arriving in China you have 30 days to apply for a residence permit. Do not arrive in China 30 days before you can register at the university, otherwise you will be fined or even asked to leave China if you exceed the 30 days.  //

    1. Report at the nearest police station within 24 hours after arrival.

    2. Find an apartment, you may need a copy of passport / student ID (?) to sign contract. Keep the contract slip safe.

    3. Go to the nearest police station after signing contract (You should bring your passport, two passport size photos, contract slip, landlord’s contact details). Ask landlord about the police station your community/neighborhood belongs to.

    4. Apply for residence permit. Seek help from school for supporting documents and such.

    5. Once you get Residence permit, go the police station again and they will update the registry.

    Hope this helps.

English is not my mother-tongue, sorry for not being word perfect.

Just comment here or add me on wechat if you are still confused.

You can add image as an attachment.

If you want to include it in between text, upload it to an image hosting website and “insert” it here.

    Or,

    1. Upload as attachment first

    2. Edit your topic

    3. right click on image and copy the link

    4. Insert image from source

    eg:
