I’d like to lodge a complaint…
BrendanModeratorBrendanModeratorThe Kaossilator’s are all great fun.
BrendanModeratorBut one person’s strength is weak, sometimes you need to stay in a community…
BrendanModeratorDo you have an apartment worked out already? I’ve been asked to find a tenant for a property in a new complex in the heart of downtown Chengdu.
BrendanModerator8000 calories a day
I know from experience how difficult it is to load carbs in that range. I will deplete for 5-6 days or more before a carb load, and when I then try getting all the carbs in I’m as sleepy as hell half way into the day. Did you ever dilute Glycerol?
Now if you could knock up some wheat free goodies…
😀
BrendanModeratorI’ve never seen anything like that in China before.
Same here, though I’m sure there are guys out there somewhere having a go at it.
This reminds me of when I was living in L.A. and would often walk the Boardwalk from Venice to Santa Monica in the morning. There’s a series of gymnastics ‘flying’ rings (and bars) on the beach just South of the pier. Many dedicated folks showing up (from around the world) to practice their crazy shit daily. The area was home to the original ‘Muscle Beach’ until 1959, which was later relocated further South in Venice.
And some old school…
BrendanModeratorAnd if you’re a bodybuilder and down 10 eggs a day…
Once upon a time I would routinely go through 40 eggs daily. 😀
My somewhat prickly response was caused by me having become a bit oversensitive towards food safety reflexes in “The West”.
I totally hear you on that. I’m always coming from the ‘science/nutrition’ camp myself, even when I’m craving off limits foods like crazy. Unfortunately from a purely health/performance perspective, the food chain is largely f***ed in most countries. Here in China that’s magnified across the board.
When I have a chance I’ll have to come check out your place. That’ll be a cheat day.
BrendanModeratorHe probably has a dialing wand
Classic.
BrendanModeratorBrendanModeratorCongrats on this Andy.
BrendanModeratorHave you tried their outdoor squat area?
No, haha, but I’ve seen guys ‘working out’ in there. I did see a guy squatting 315 in there on my 2nd visit, in jeans and sweater no less.
BrendanModeratorbut microwave the white(s) for 15 seconds at medium power or until the first white threads appear
Great advice, though any reason you wouldn’t also microwave the yolk?
Again, I’d use (and have used) raw eggs when I know and trust the supplier. That’s a harder ask in China.
As far as the ‘yellow’ appearance of yolks go, farmers the world over have been using feeds that specifically colour the yolk for years. A natural untainted egg will have what I call a ‘sunshine’ yellow to it, with an almost glow.
I could be considered ‘antsy’ when it comes to eggs, since as a bodybuilder they’ve been my predominant source of protein (generally speaking) for several years.
BrendanModeratorSo this will suggest a faster DNS server for to use?
Yes, that’s exactly what it did. It came back with 5 servers that ranged (in the test) from between 48% and 67% faster than my existing (2) DNS servers that were provided via my VPN account. Interestingly I ran a leak test on those 2 prior to running namebench to verify that they were performing correctly. They were.
Has it made a big difference for you?
That’s what makes the leak test interesting, as so far having configured to the new suggested servers I’m seeing no failing page loads as before. No doubt this will last for a few days or so as usual, before slowing to the pace of a one legged half dead rat with a USB stick strapped to it’s back, and I’ll have to go searching for internet service solution #4,722.
Thanks China.
BrendanModeratorI can’t believe there’s actually a video of a guy discussing kipping technique as a thing… Crossfit is hilarious.
Just curious turtle, what do you weigh in at?
I think the OP is way gone by now
How so?
BrendanModeratorI started to be very sad when I had to answer to those classic foreigner alcoholics who spent their days to criticize China but they stay in China for the reason we all know.
• Tsingtao?
• 67rmb all you can eat Korean BBQ (+all you can drink… Tsingtao)?
• 12 pack Tsingtao?
• Being stereotyped (in horrendous English) by self construed victims with no sense of humour?BrendanModeratorI’m currently at 20 pull-ups in a row
That’s Grand-Master status if you’re not kicking yourself up like a hyena!
@rcastevet: Could you be more specific about the workouts you envisage? There’s a little spot right beside the North entrance to LKF that has a whole gamut of bars and spinning things (?) as one example. Maybe with a better idea of the workout, you’ll have more luck finding a place that will work. Perhaps people could submit a photo or two here of any such locations.
I wonder if the Sichuan Sports University would be open to you using their facilities. Be aware those guys will probably leave you for dust though, I’ve looked in on a couple of sessions on campus and there’s some dedicated folk in there.
BrendanModeratorGet your kid learning Kung-Fu, that’ll surely mess with their heads once he round-houses that Laowai singing circle!
BrendanModeratorGlad to see this is going well Mike. Keep it up.
BrendanModeratorI would NEVER eat raw eggs unless I was sourcing them directly and knew everything there was to know about the hens, their feed, the land they live on, etc. An unknown is an unknown.
Those smoothie recipes should be absent of any sugars in the a.m. if you’re looking to stay lean and not end up starving hungry within 3-4 hours. You’ll likely also end up craving further carbs (whether you realise it or not), and forever a smoothie shall you be.
Grinding the oats is a nice idea as that definitely helps satiate you, and the fibre won’t hurt, just so long as you’re not sensitive to gluten. Most oats are cross contaminated with gluten containing grains. Another issue is phytic acid, which you can keep down by soaking your serving overnight. Incidentally soaking the oats will forego the need to grind them. Pro-tip right there. When I can find them I prefer to use Psyllium, an inexpensive fibre that provides great benefit for digestion.
Getting greens into your shake is an awesome idea, not least for the benefits of alkalising you. When I can find decent (dark) leafy greens I will throw close to half a pound in. I’ve also been using green tea powder for a couple of years or so now, which serves as a great antioxidant, metabolic booster, and alkalising agent. It’s also ridiculously cheap.
A fairly standard smoothie for me looks something like this:
• 500ml filtered water (or coconut water p.m.)
• 50-75g Whey Protein Isolates
• 100g Natural Peanut Butter
• 25g Coconut Oil
• 5-10g Alkalised Cocoa (easily obtainable)
• 5g Green Tea Powder
• 5g Fibre
• 10-15g BCAA’s
• Creatine (Monohydrate/Micronised)Post-workout I might include the following:
• 500ml Coconut, Almond, or Soy Milk/Fruit Juice
• 1-2 Banana (never too ripe)
• 1/4 Pineapple
• Various berries (when in season and not absurdly priced)
• 1 Tbsp HoneyWhen they’re available at a reasonable price I’ll throw in half an avocado. This gives the smoothie an awesome texture, not to mention that avocado’s are awesome in their own right.
