If a proxy is an option for you, look into SocketPro.
It has split tunneling by default, can control the domains that need to be send through the proxy and traffic normally. It’s faster then any VPN I ever used in China. No buffering on Youtube videos with the Vietnam and Korea servers.
I am a very happy user for over the last year and a half and have not used a VPN since.
Have a look: http://www.socketpro.co/aff/129

j.slemmerParticipantYes, free app on Android and a paid (18 RMB) one on iphone.
Works on all platforms. If you need any help, there is support available.j.slemmerParticipantSocketPro is run by a local and yes he has a legal ICP licence for the site, I’ve been a supporter and customer for over a year now.
I used to advise ExpressVPN to my friends, but I have not used a VPN for over a year, since I switched to ShadowSocks.
Feel free to make an account – http://www.socketpro.co/aff/129
(my affiliate link)To answer your question about the server, there are 28 servers spread over Singapore, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, US, Taiwan
Plenty to choose from. Korea servers seem to work best for me on my China Telecom connection. Some of the servers are optimised for Unicom, Telecom or China Mobile.
j.slemmerParticipantI use torrents all the time while using ExpressVPN.
They never complain and the speeds are good, basically my full internet connection. Almost the same as without a VPN.And also works well on my iPhone while using 3g.
j.slemmerParticipantI’ve been using express vpn, very happy with it.
30 day money back period if your not happy, no questions asked.
plus you get 1 month extra for free if you use this link. (disclaimer: so do I)https://www.expressvpn.xyz?referrer_id=8420355j.slemmerParticipantI’ve signed up and sent you a private message.
Let’s work together…
j.slemmerParticipantThere is a high speed train to Chongqing which only takes a couple of hours and there is supposed to be a line now going to Leshan/Emeishan.
And of course there is a line going to Qingchengshan and dujiangyan.
The line going north, mianyang and further is not complete yet as far as I know.
j.slemmerParticipantDoes anyone have a good deal on bubbles? Doesn’t have to be real Champagne, can be prosecco or something similar.
That’s cheaper to buy from Raylene at Cheers here in Chengdu, she has 3-4 different German bubbles, and one Spanish. Her store is opposite Sichuan University on Kehua Bei Lu: http://www.cheers-wines.com/en/stores/storesinchengdu/item/273-cheers-chengdu1 http://www.cheers-wines.com/en/catalog/sparklingwine
Yeah I know she has some, but I am not to often downtown and a Taobao addict anyway…
j.slemmerParticipantI use it quite a bit.
aying for dinners when I forgot to bring cash again
Buying things on meituan and pay through my wechat wallet (balance or bank, depending on how much I got in the wallet)
It’s pretty awesome.
j.slemmerParticipantDoes anyone have a good deal on bubbles?

I have only used it on pizza so far. But I think could be good on a sandwich.
j.slemmerParticipant— Pizza flour
1kg for 37 RMB, makes decent pizza’s.
https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=36974622777&toSite=main— Salami (sort of)
100 grams for 11 RMB (+10 shipping)
But 65 for 500 gram is reasonable I think.

The girlfriend has been using this and is comfortable enough for her that she will actually wear it.

Or contact me for WeChat & phone number of them.
They can arrange pretty much any tour in Sichuan, from default Leshan/Emaishan/Jiuzhaigou to tours through west Sichuan.
j.slemmerParticipantSmart move Rick 🙂
But thanks for the referral before, can always use those extra months for free. Didn’t know it was you that used it.
j.slemmerParticipantWorking 40 hours in China, means working from 9 till 11:30, then taking a 2,5 hours lunch/nap and starting again at 2 till 5.
Hard life…
j.slemmerParticipantIs this the location of the abandoned “world park”?
Around the lake?https://www.google.com.hk/maps/@30.7611819,103.9604744,16.85z?hl=en
And WoodWerd, did you go to a Ghost town?
j.slemmerParticipantYou’re pretty representative for this forum Rick! I like your suggestion.
Let us know how it was!
j.slemmerParticipantGet at the park early in the morning, take the bus all the way up and then walk the boardwalks down (25-30 km of walking possible).
The boardwalks are on the other sides of lakes then the bus/main road.
You will have it mostly for yourself, as 90% of the Chinese are only using the bus to see everything. One more pro-tip: get a 1 day pass and sleep in one of the tibetan villages.
Your not officially allowed to do this, but they the local tibetans bride be park officers. A simple room for a night might cost you 250 rmb, but you save that money the next day on not paying entrance/bus tickets again.I would say you need 2 days in the park to see everything and not rush.
j.slemmerParticipantHow much was that fine? and with valid motorcycle license, you mean the drivers license or license plates on the bike?
j.slemmerParticipantYes.But your visa must be come from Chengdu.
I guess that makes sense, never really thought about that.
