I know someone too. How long do you need help? Her name is Pippi Huang, she’s a local and currently studying medicine in New Zealand but is on an extended visit home here in Chengdu. I’ll give her your email.

I’d say there were a little less than half of the participants who wore helmets. Not bad for China. Bikes with brakes however, not so much.

What time you start to the shop ?

Adrien, we’ll be leaving the shop around 18:30. If you can’t get to the shop by then tomorrow afternoon perhaps come by tonight and switch bikes. Or we can ghost ride your bike to the start and take care of your new bike during the event.

    Just one more day!!!

Judith, the tibetan pigs you mentioned are suitable for pets but the get rather large. Have you considered a mini potbellied pig (迷你香猪)? I knew someone in Beijing who had one and it was super cool. They’re smart, exceptionally trainable, clean, and hilarious to have as pets.

They appear to be available close by too, via taobao

Nice recommendation Chris, super good read.

I’ve had countless conversations with friends born in the 80s and 90s about pressure from parents to live a certain life path that is beyond irrelevant today. I don’t envy them at all, especially since the tolerance for non-conformity is as low as it is.

There were so many good points in the article, I also highly recommend it.

If/when the real estate bubble bursts, so much of what drives societal and familial motivation is going to seem so futile.

Humans from this specific part of the world did tend to breed for many centuries only with others from this region. So there does tend to be a uniformity of traits and concentration of genes among the population. This is similar to what is found in populations from regions like northern Europe or Iceland, and a similar phenomenon among Jews and tribes in Africa.

Biologically, what mixing gene pools does is bring genes together that normally don’t have an opportunity interact because populations don’t interbreed. This mixing increases the possibility of new traits (genotypes and phenotypes from high school biology).

Talking about traits of individuals (phenotypes) that manifest from multiracial births is exceptionally complex given the number of genes we have, not to mention the number of traits that are influenced by interactions of multiple genes (intelligence, height, etc).

However child/ children of the one who`s blood already mixed will look like 100% Chinese. Could anyone confirm or reject such information?

Who is the other half of the reproducing pair? Caucasian, Asian, or mixed?

    What is this documentary called?

Definitely check out Natooke北京 if you have an opportunity, the place quite literally changed my life.

On Wudaoying Hutong (五道营胡同) there is a nice vegetarian restaurant right next door called The Veggie Table, outstanding hummus. The rest of the hutong is little shops and boutiques that are worth a look. Also the School Bar often has stuff going on.

The whole Gulou (鼓楼) and Nanluoguxiang (南锣鼓巷) area very close to Natooke北京 is pretty nice too. Sort of like 宽窄巷子 here but not so ‘done’ and with a bit more character.

My brother did a course last year and said it was “borderline life-changing”. He really recommended Vipassana highly.

I’d also be down for attending a meditation group.

We’ll leave from the Natooke成都 @7:00am and ride somewhat leisurely together to Longquan.

If anyone wants to meet us en route, we’ll be heading via Long Xing Da Dao (龙兴大道) –> Jing Ning Lu (静宁路) --> Cheng Long Da Dao (成龙大道) –> then up to Yi Du Zhong Lu (驿都中路) into Longquanyi (龙泉驿).

The hill that will perish is part of the G321, we’ll start the climb at the hospital gate at the bottom.

Brendan, how tempted are you? We’ll be back before noon.

There are prizes being donated by Natooke成都 and Specialized for first 3 finishers + DFL. Specialized road helmet, water bottles, leg warmers, fender, and some other little stuff.
