I flew Air Hainan on my way back and from Belgium.

Chengdu – Beijing: flight got cancelled due to military. No advance notice (no text, email or call). However, they  did offer me a free flight with similar time to Beijing with Sichuan Airlines. Sweet!

Beijing – Brussels: this is where the trouble started. Due to a delay from Sichuan Airlines I missed my flight to Brussels. All Air Hainan were closed (it was 1.20 AM) so i was forced to get a hotel on my own. The day after all offices were open from 9, except for Hainan who opened around 10. They offered me another flight, but refused to pay me my hotel fee back (I did get it back though after half an hour negotiating, being on their helpline for another half hour and having to cite their regulations from their website in an email war….).

The flight itself was also horrible. The tv screens didnt work well, the touch screens are incredibly unresponsive, the headsets are so horrible I couldnt watch any movie without a crackling sound (even after replacing headset). Food is also terrible, but at least the service is very friendly.

They also gave me a lot of hassle with my luggage. They made me wait for over an hour in the middle of the queues without offering me any place to wait and sit and even without an explanation, only “wait a moment sir” and they played the reverse “ting bu dong” on me when I asked what’s happening.

Most of their staff hardly speak English, which I found shocking for a company doing international flights.

Note that I might have been harsh on my review considering I flew Singapore Airlines my first time i went to China, which is like night and day compared to Air Hainan.

Also (surprisingly) my flight from Beijing to Chengdu with Air Hainan was the best i had with them. Clean, much better tv screens, better movie selection (even if it’s the same airline company), etc.

In short: avoid Air Hainan if possible

    Price reduced to 500 RMB!

Found myself a sweet apartment and there’s no elevator, so I’d prefer avoiding having to move this set up to the new place.

    Grab your bargain today!

True that. Actually it also seems France has come back from the dead and with yesterdays victory Belgium has advanced to the semi finals, which is their biggest achievement since 1986 (and before that 1920’s).

I bet a lot of gamblers are pulling out their hair though 🙂

So disappointed with Portugal… For being a football powerhouse they definitely lacked creative play.

I never realized the US potential until this World Cup though. They did very well so far.

    @Ray

I havent been to Lazy Guys yet but i definitely will make a trip down there as soon as I can. On the other hand, theres the Mug bar as well (dont ask me for the location too) who provide locally brewed beer.

Im planning to do a world cup special as well. When Belgium plays midnight games Ill be at the beer nest with some of my own beers, so come over for a taster if youre free

I’d agree with the beer nest myself. If I’m not mistake Dieter mentioned signing the lease for a second beer nest.

I know it is not specifically a place, but micro breweries and brewing beer is also on the rise (even though mostly undercover still). There are several foreigners and a group of Chinese into brewing and I do believe this industry will rise and shine in the near future. So perhaps an article on breweries and where to buy craft beers?

Definitely true! Although shipping 70kg of weights and equipment of this size will add up to the price, plus they’ll have it sent to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere.

Every time I order over 10-15kg of barley malt on taobao I am faced with this, which is a huge pain

    Hey Ray,

Add ss in the youtube url (www.youtube.com/abcde becomes http://www.ssyoutube.com/abcde).

This will redirect you to a website allowing you to download the video clip in several formats and video qualities.

I have one. It’s a different brand and it was priced down to 1500 from nearly 3000 (I’m a bit sceptical but meh…)

Anyway, it does the job fairly well. However:

*requires occasional maintenance. I also have a shedding long haired cat and after several cleanings it jammed the brush
*you need to keep it away from water
*even though it is designed to detect ledges, I’ve had mine fall off sometimes (luckily its only a 5 cm drop)
    *doesnt clean corners too well
*is quite noisy so better have it one while you’re out
*for some reason it doesnt always find it’s way back to the charging station

Overall though I am quite pleased with it. Cleans well, covers areas under sofa, bed, closet, etc. Low maintenance.
You can actually buy some that can mob the floor too.

The way I see things, things are never black or white.

I invite you to my home, I expect you to respect the way I live in it, take off your shoes, don’t wreck the place, don’t plunder my fridge, etc. On the other hand, it’s not because you come into my house that I can ask you to hand me over your wallet, make fun of your middle name and ID card photo and ask you to leave because your hair color doesn’t match my interior design. You get my picture, right?

People coming into this country have their own backgrounds and history. It’s not by pointing out our differences but looking for our similarities that we will take a step forward.

I saw Monster University last Sunday and cant help but see the cute little green monster in that cat. Only that it’s white. And furry. And a cat.

But considering the cheese prices foreign thiefs might!

Get a safe, but hide the money under the dirty laundry.
That way, people will steal the safe assuming it contains valuables and they wont bother checking the laundry.

Wanna have fun? Write a note and put it in the safe. Something like “joke’s on you, b*tches!”

    Reversed psychology baby!

This calls for a treasure hunt party! Hide the money where you wouldnt expect anyone to find it, and invite some people over. Get them to find the money within 15 minutes.

If they cant find it, they pay your drinks. If they find it, drinks are on you 😉

After a few parties you’ll come up with the perfect money hiding location!

I recently found an Iphone app called “Riffsy” who lets you browse, save and send gifs to weixin, imessage and email.

Not sure if they have it on Android.
