LinoParticipant
Same here. Also been reading the books. Great books, great show!
LinoParticipantI noticed the same. I had a reading of over 600 for a while but after refreshing a few times the reading for the same time changed to 800+. I’d say something wrong with the reading.
LinoParticipantQuote:How about talking to these girls before judging them? Some truth in this. If I look back at pictures from when I was 17 I wonder what the hell I was thinking. I’m sure many of you can relate lol
LinoParticipantI can’t comment on Chinese kids, but I am a mixture of Belgian, Portuguese and German blood myself (within the last 2 generations).
People can never guess where I’m from. The usual guesses are Italian, French, Spanish or Brazilian.
I therefore assume the southern European characteristics dominate my West European characteristics, but I don’t consider myself 100% Belgian, Portuguese or German judging from my looks. Same for my brothers.
I would find it awkward if Chinese genes do take over completely. I would assume there would be a lot more Chinese looking people by now if this was true.
I’ve also known a girl back in Ireland who was a mixture of Japanese and Spanish and she actually looked like 50/50 Spanish/Japanese.
LinoParticipantQuote:Amiga? Those were Sega Genesis games where I’m from. Lemmings was on PC too, though. These are probably popular games who have made a transition to the more modern platforms.
I’ve done a bit of research and even Warcraft 2 was on Amiga which later moved to Sega, PC and Playstation.
LinoParticipantHaha that brings me back to the days of Amiga. I used to love Earthworm Jim, Golden Ax and Lemmings! I think i still have my army of Amiga floppies collecting dust in our attic at home.
When Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter came out it gave birth to button bashing! I used to beat friends who actually tried to memorize the combos by bashing buttons. Pissed them off like there was no tomorrow… I loved that!
LinoParticipantIn the end I simply created a template and had my school place a stamp on it to make it look “official”.
My friends will apply for their visa soon, but everything should go well
LinoParticipantBella. If you have the time I would suggest to take some time to self reflect and digest all the advice you got here.
If your English is good enough I would also recommend some books written by Paulo Coelho. They are usually useful in “finding your path”. I think especially the book called “Brida” might have some answers for you.
LinoParticipantI’d love to Iona but I’ll be travelling around myself quite a lot. I have a friend looking after mine during my longer trips so I’ll ask if she can take care of yours too. I’ll let you know.
LinoParticipantGot it.
I will create a quick template based on Astrid’s example and create an English counterpart, together with a stamp from my school just to be sure. That should seal the deal and put people at ease.
Thanks for the advice everyone
LinoParticipantThank you all for the advice. The part I am worried about is the assurance and ID. I can provide a copy of my passport, but what do they mean with assurance?
@Astrid: so an invitation letter is something i write myself and send to my friends, right? There is no formal invitation letter template?
@Liam: Even though my friends probably won’t be asked for the documents they are first timers at leaving the safe haven of EU and venture into another continent, so having all the required documents will set them at ease. Just to be on the safe side
@Charlie: Standing in front of security control with a return flight that hasn’t really been booked must have been a little bit exciting I can imagine haha.
LinoParticipantQuote:Does anyone have an address or phone number for this place? I gotta check that place out.LinoParticipantWeird. Down here in Shuangliu there was practically no fog at all..
LinoParticipantI didn’t notice it yesterday because I didn’t have to work but the first thing on my mind this morning: What the fog!!
LinoParticipantI just had an interesting read that brings a ray of sunshine to the pollution issue:
“Great City will use 48% less energy and 58% less water than a conventional development of similar population. It will also produce 89% less landfill waste and generate 60% less carbon dioxide.”

LinoParticipantI went to Xilin 2 weeks ago. There was not enough snow for skiing but plenty to have snow fights..
LinoParticipantQuote:I don’t have to sit in an office for 8-10 hours a day.Have to say I agree with this one as well. For years I have been working in an office in pursuit of success and money. But I figured out (at least for myself) people should educate theirselves to be happy instead of being rich.
Quote:Why i stay in CD? Well the opportunity.I have only been here for 2.5 months but I also agree with Jerry. Back home I am an average John Doe with (at best) average beatbox and sports skills, but in China it’s like I’m on a whole new level. This place seems to be packed with opportunity. Not only in sports and music, but in languages, businesses, etc.
