LinoParticipantQuote:If you want to drink the tap water, suit yourself. Personally, I think that is nuts. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t breathe the air, either.
There is always a choice! 🙂
LinoParticipantI’d recommend some warm fleece underclothes. You can get some cheap ones at Uniclo.
I personally bought some warm pyjama’s from Taobao. They are so warm and thick that I actually can imagine how it feels like to be a polar bear!
And when the weather really gets cold and nothing seems to help… your body is the best heater of all. Get some exercise and that will keep you warm for a while!!
LinoParticipantAll that’s missing is that he’d put out his cigarette in his glass 🙂
LinoParticipantI’m going to Xilin mountain in 2 weeks from now with my school, I’ll let you guys know about the snow.
My colleague went to check the place out 2 days ago and there was no snow so far..
LinoParticipantI’m a criminologist and I absolutely had to laugh at the absurdity of it all!!
But good news, congratulations Rick!
LinoParticipantI’d say let’s meet tomorrow at 8 pm but I’m afraid I can’t go as I sprained my ankle and I dont think i should be skiing if I value walking!
I’d probably would try next week as soon as the ankle allows thought!
LinoParticipantQuote:I sprained my ankle over the weekendDang, what happened?
Long story. I’ll give you the story in between the tabletennis on Saturday!
LinoParticipantI’d be up for a few rounds too.
I sprained my ankle over the weekend so I’m praying for a speedy recovery (and some sort of table tennis skill!)
I got a pad and about 4 balls. Very cheap purchase, you can buy them in loads of supermarkets. Got mine at Honqxi chain
LinoParticipantI spoke with the chengdu beer guys too.
They told me you can get most of the equipment from taobao and there is a guy in Shanghai selling equipment. It’s called My homebrew shop and you can find more details in hopsmagazine.com
We should get together and get some supplies!
LinoParticipantHey Liz,
Sweet! I’ll keep you updated!
LinoParticipantI would be interested in this Brian.
I brewed my very first batch a few months ago before coming to Chengdu and it has been a great experience (the brewing had been better than the tasting however haha)
Let me know if you ever want to check for supplies.
LinoParticipantThe company invested all their money on the dry slope and had no budget left for the website… obviously! 🙂
Even though you can hardly call the place a slope i still want to give it a go to get used to have ski lats under my feet.
LinoParticipantHey Davey,
I actually got myself an Iphone now. My HTC desire was really screwing up badly.
The phone shut off at random intervals and after a while even my microphone was not working anymore, meaning i couldnt receive or make calls.
On top of that my internet connection started dropping all the time, so that was the final drop.
Anyway, I sold the phone to the shop but I still have a spare battery and charger lying around which is useless to me now. You can have them for free. Send me a PM if interested.
LinoParticipantCress… I’m never getting on your bad side! 🙂
Kerry, I’d start with the “soft approach” before escalating this to all out war.
For example, remove the power cable from his speakers when he’s out and hide it somewhere different every day.
Or uninstall his sound driver. It’s not the end of the world as he can reinstall but persistence can be a b*tch.
If he asks you what happened to his power cable, just tell him “I don’t know, but I like it this way”.
Come on… I’m sure that would put a smile on your face, right? 🙂
If that doesn’t work you might have to go for Charlie’s, Rick’s or Cress’ tactics.
LinoParticipantI would be interersted as well. Seeing the pictures makes me wanna go even more!!
I’ll have to invest in a better bike though and some blister protection 🙂
LinoParticipantI wish I could join myself sounds like a great night, but unfortunately I can’t. I haven’t seen many horror movies over the past few years but Nightmare on Elm Street has always been my favourite.
Wes Craven’s People Under the Stairs will be one to look out for!
LinoParticipantAwesome pictures Charlie, thanks for putting them up.
Like discussed, the party itself was not the greatest I’ve ever been to. But hey, now I can say I have partied in a farm silo. It’s a new experience and that’s what it’s all about!
LinoParticipantBrian, are you going again next week?
I won’t be able to sleep properly until I can manage to climb the toughest wall in there haha
LinoParticipantQuote:I’m looking too, but wondering if my nationality/ ethnicity will lower my chances of teaching English in Chengdu. Does anyone know? Seems like most of the related job ads are looking for American/ UK/ Canadian/ Australian native speakers. (I’m Singaporean, ethnic Chinese, & my first language is English. I consider myself native, but what’s your general opinion?)I am Belgian myself and know some people from Estonia teaching. Have met Russian and Indian teachers too. I’m sure you can find a job. It’s all about having the right attitude and proving that you can speak English fluently.
LinoParticipantI’ll be there! I’m bringing my neighbour along, so could i get a plus one too please?
