Rosetta Stone really helped me improve my vocab.

I’ll try to find the name of the little grammar books I used

Why even bother with an Iphone when the Samsung Galaxy II (LTE) is both cheaper and better? Plus android gives you more possibilities

    I don’t get the whole Apple hype…

    you need the original degree

PSB stands for Public Security Bureau. They decide on visas.

    For the connections part: Guanxi

    The regulations changed a couple week ago. As follows;

People who already have a Z visa can continue having one (and get a new one) without having a Bacherlors degree

People who want to apply for a (first) Z visa MUST have a bachelors degree.

This is a Chengdu regulation. PSB connections can not change this. I know first hand

That’s like 5x less than what it normally would be!

easy there, you can get to KL for about 500-600 normally. I’m not talking about spring festival or other peak periods though

You can do a much ‘research’ online as you want, and listen to people’s critism about former employers. if you really want a job, you just apply everywhere and see what kind of vibe you get from the interview

Hampsons isn’t bad as long as you accept their conditions. I know teachers that have been working there for over a year now, and that don’t have a bad thing to say. I still wouldn’t work there, but again, personal preference…

Forgot about Sunny’s English club. They’re just a recruiting front. They’ll send you to a town outside of Chengdu and take 20% of your monthly income

I haven’t been there since summer, but it used to be tournament style on Saturdays (100 RMB buy-in) and cash game on Sundays (50 RMB multiple buy-ins).

Dave is very easy going and lets you host a game for free, as long as you don’t spend 3 hours drinking 1 beer

China’s ESL market in 10 years will be like Japan’s market now: saturated… small schools going out of business, big school making less profit

Factor in the decreasing birth rate of the last 10 years and even China’s public schools will have to compete to ‘fill up’ their classrooms

call me crazy, but China in 10 years isn’t going to be all it’s cracked up to be. Big English schools are already planning for this upcoming saturation of the ESL market in China
