The Abuluzi Tibetan Family Homestay is a great option. You don’t really need a guide for the park itself and Zhuo Ma and her family can act as your hosts in Jiuzhaigou. They can help you plan additional activities besides offering cozy Tibetan meals and an authentic village homestay experience. The website is spotty, here’s a somewhat inaccurate but close enough CNN story link about the place. PM me for details

Yo Sasha, we used to have a pickup game at that gym on 1st ring right by comp. city. We had a lot of fun games going there for a while on Sundays, but the crowd kinda disappeared. If you got a group together I’d be down to play there, Thurs nights would be good. I’ll still jump at the chance to play on an indoor wood floor, the game just feel crisper there than playing outside.

Unlikely Elias, Team America is full of athletic beasts and is also battle tested, coming back from deficits in 3 of 5 games so far already. Still, the league overall has been a success and hopefully it will be back for another round in the spring.

Langmusi is easily one of my favorite places in Southwest China. A harmonious crossroad of Islam and Buddhism, the town is surrounded by a wide variety of memorable trekking options. Langmusi makes for an excellent trip through Tibetan Amdo from Chengdu or Jiuzhaigou up to Lanzhou in Gansu.

Complete weak sauce, but I’m not surprised. Last year I could stream MLB Games (Baseball) without a problem. This year I can barely watch at all. I live with a few others whose computers are sharing our Wifi signal, so I’m not surprised to see these really low figures.

I can get max download speeds of 250 kb/s, but I pay 128/month I think.

    What should I do?

    Hi George,

There are many Chinese tutors available for about 40-75 RMB/hr, particularly in the south end near Sichuan University and the other schools. I also know one foreigner with perfect Chinese who can teach you, but his price is higher. There is also a company called Chinese Corner which offers small Chinese classes for foreigners.

Zijing Theatre, just west of old Babi/Mix club area on south 2nd ring road. My friend managed to buy some group ticket discount so the tix were only 60 RMB each for 7-8 people, but i think normally tickets are 100-120 RMB or so. That 3D tag lets them tack on an extra fee.

Start with the Int’l schools like QSI, Meishi, American School, Eton, & Leman to name a few. They offer the best facilities and competitive pay to qualified teachers. A mix of foreign and Chinese administration should be a positive as well…..

in reply to: Where are all the great food spots at? #11479

My fave is the Yulin fresh market just down the alleys off of Nijiaqiao Lu and Yulin Zhonglu. I used to live about 3 minutes walk from there and those were happy days. I could easily spend 45 minutes wandering about slowly eating snacks and chatting with my regular snack vendors. Guo Kui 锅魁,potato spring rolls 土豆卷, honey date cake 蜂蜜枣子糕, sweet duck 甜皮鸭, cured beef 腊肉 – one stall in particular, and then just the regular varieties of zongzi 粽子,包子,and a bunch of other things I’m not sure the name of…. yum…
