Asking 800rmb for everything.
rafobertoParticipantHey guys sorry if this has asked before, but does anyone know of any parks or open air spaces with stuff needed to do complete body weight exercises? Like parallel bars or rings? Also, is there anyone teaching parkour here in the city?
rafobertoParticipantHey there, I’m back after a brief absence, changing the format of the comic a bit and trying to make them longer, I hope you like the changes
Today’s comic is inspired by Chengdu’s changing weather, and I couldn’t help throwing in a reference to a popular fantasy-drama TV show 😉
Just when you thought spring had finally arrived…
rafobertoParticipantHey guys, wanted to wish you all a Happy Spring Festival, so I made a comic for today’s holiday, enjoy! Chinanigans

rafobertoParticipantThanks Charlie!
rafobertoParticipantTook a small hiatus but I’m back with more comics, please spread the love!

rafobertoParticipantHappy New Year Chendgu!
To celebrate 2016 here’s a new comic, hope you like it! New Year’s Party in China
rafobertoParticipantNew comic today China’s population effect on your perception
rafobertoParticipantHello again guys, holiday shopping has kept me busy but as promised here’s a new update, more to come soon!
Today’s comic: Public Urination!
rafobertoParticipantThanks Charlie, I’ll be updating the page pretty soon with some new comics and your ideas, and I look forward to hear some more.
rafobertoParticipantYeah this is the place! That’s awesome man, thanks a lot for these links!
rafobertoParticipantI’ve seen these restaurants you mention, there used to be one near my apartment and there’s one on my way to work, but this tea house is a different thing altogether from what I’ve heard, apparently it’s a really old place, and much of their decoration stands exactly as it opened several years ago, but being this old means it’s meant to be destroyed sooner or later, someone even told me the current owner was trying to save the place by turning it into a museum, but no one can provide me an address on the place, which frustrates me to no end, because I really wanna see this place.
rafobertoParticipantActually I do mean 30rmb, it wasn’t particularly expensive when it was new, and now it’s used and has the slight malfunction of the upper wall not heating, so I’m just asking for 30rmb, I’m sure someone with a bigger kitchen will make use of it more than I am at the moment.
rafobertoParticipantHi Deven!
I’m Rafael, I actually worked as a photographer/videographer/video editor for about 5-6 years before coming to China. Although I haven’t done much in the field lately, I think I might be able to help out. Send me a pm if you’re interested, cheers!
rafobertoParticipantAs for the WiiU, my experience with it has been very positive. A couple of REALLY fun games (new mario kart is amazing, new smash is fun multi and single player game), the gamepad is a unique piece of hardware that hasn’t been fully explored yet, and the online offerings are growing. I heard Bayonetta 2 was an incredibly fun game.
Dan, seeing that you have a Wii U I hope you can clear some of my doubts regarding it, did you buy it in China or did you bring it from home? If bought in China, how much did you pay for it, and does it have a regional (language) system for default? Also, do you purchase the games physically or have you downloaded any while in China? Thanks again for your help, I must say that PS4 offer is very tempting.
– Rafa
rafobertoParticipantThanks for the advice guys, it’s quite helpful. Maybe you can answer me a couple other things, what would be the best option for purchasing the console and games? Taobao or at the computer buildings near Raffles city? Do most consoles come with some kind of region lock? Has anyone had any experience bringing it back home?
Thanks again for the info.
rafobertoParticipant@Daithi As a matter of fact, I did visit Galway while I was in Ireland, lovely little place, with lots of pretty girls I must say, I guess there is some truth to the “Galway Girl” song. A shame I couldn’t stay longer there, because sadly I did not meet any other spanish speakers during my stay.
I had a great time in Ireland, drinking was a big part of the schedule I’ll admit, but I also visited a few other historical and cultural places like the Cliffs of Moher, the Blarney Stone and the Guinness Factory! haha, overall I loved it there and I would definitely go back given the chance.
It seems to me that there aren’t that many spanish speakers here in Chengdu, I’ve met 2 other people, both from Peru, but aside from that I’ve heard stories of one or two other mexicans that live here, but they seem to be elusive and hard to find.
As for the chinese workers in South America, it seems that there is indeed a huge wave of chinese immigrants heading that way, back home there are more and more establishments and businesses run by chinese families, so they have certainly set their eyes on latin america by the looks of it.
Let me know whenever you’re back in Chengdu so we can go have a pint somewhere, my irish accent could use some improvement! Best regards.
– Rafael
rafobertoParticipantHey David
I learned that word on my trip to Ireland last year, a common and well received word on my pub hopping adventure on the Emerald Isle.
rafobertoParticipantHi Deirdre
Welcome to Chengdu! My name is Rafael, I’ve recently moved to Chengdu all the way from Mexico, just like you I haven’t really explored much of the city and it’s surroundings as much as I would like to, nor I’ve met too many people to hang out with.
If you’re interested, we can meet up one day for a drink or a chat at a park, whatever you might fancy.
Slainte!
