I normally use Nick and Shan Shui for my business visa extensions, but this time around I was told they are not able to do it.Their best advice for me was to leave the country and apply as a tourist every three months until matters settle and I can resume using a business visa. I too was also told a “change in management/bosses” has made it a sensitive time for agencies and business visas.

If you are in a time pinch, you can still use an agency and avail of an “L” visa which gives you an additional 30 days but you must leave the country after the 30 days…

I have some to add…these made me cringe when I first saw it in China, but now I’m numb to it:

-unashamed nose-picking and “one-nostril’snot-rockets” (you know what I’m talking about)

-dropping bones and food rubbish on the table or floor

-chewing with an open mouth (I like seafood…not see-food)

-men trying on/fitting shirts (and on some occasions pants) in the actual store and not in a changing room

    These are silly:

    -paying for plastic bags

-whiskey + fruit tea concoctions at clubs

-grocery store/restaurant workers using a microphone + speaker but proceed to yell when you are standing next to him/her

-the amount of things with animal ears on it

    -lack of deodorant

And all of the above make me say “Oh my Lady Gaga”, but don’t get me wrong, I love China : )

In another topic, how much does it cost to take the Yellow 300 bus that goes to the airport? I see it pass through Renmin Lu.

Or I’ve been told there is an airport shuttle across the street from the Jinjiang Hotel.

    Anyone know details?

    Final count: 153 DVDs!

Luckily, I went to IKEA before the pickup. Also, I almost biked over there – good thing I didn’t.

    Thanks again Charlie!

Not to go off on a tangent but I was reminded of this website. Just beware you’ll get hungry quick. Just click the picture to see more scrumptious “porn”.

I’ll gladly take those DVDs off your hands. I prefer to watch movies/shows via DVDs and not so much the internet.

    I’ll PM you.

Ah, I remember being in this position 4 months ago when I first came to CD (thus, starting this forum discussion). I thought I was only going to be here for the summer but it is looking like I will be here for a year instead. Regarding this meet up at Macchu Pichu, I’d love to go and meet you guys. Count me in!

My friends and I have been wanting to try 四海一家 for a while now (as in we will probably go tonight). Does anyone know how much the buffet for a weeknight is? If it’s not much cheaper, then we’ll probably just go for the weekend dinner…

    Boris,

My name is Vince, from the US and I am interested in your apartment/room. I actually live really close by – right inside the South Gate of Sichuan Uni. I have been here in CD for two months teaching English and I will be starting a new job in August. I need a new place because I prefer to be closer to Kehua Beilu and I do not like my current landlord. Also, the rent is perfect for my budget.

Anyway, you said you may be gone for 6 mo? That is how long I will be in CD.

Is there a way to see the apartment? Are you still in CD?

Let me know what you think!

    Cheers,

    Vince

    I heart the Lazy Pug.

Before seeing this forum, I went with a friend and I was hooked instantly.

For me, befriending the owners and employees have made my move to Chengdu extra special. Be sure to get to know them – great folks. I like this gem of an establishment so much, I find myself here two or three times a week. Scrumptious food – great drinks – and fabulous people.

And yes, the free wifi is great for student workers like me to do my work. In fact, I am writing this while at LP!
