There’s a bit of a price war going on right now amongst gyms here. I was just quoted 2450 for one year at Physical, or two years for 3600. This a good deal for what i consider to be a (mostly) excellent gym. I know Brendan has just found what he describes as a great gym near SM square and he also scored an excellent deal there. if you live anywhere near Yu Lin a huge new place has just opened too. It’s a good time to be looking for a membership….
Wow, coming to Chengdu! That’s pretty cool. I was talking to someone about this guy recently. I tried some of his concentric routines and tips for rotator cuff recovery. He is a legit old school fitness legend. Here he is on Rogan:
it’s a bit too far for me but this looks like a top-notch facility. Goddamn, I miss kettle bells! Good luck with this Collin.
I returned from Japan a few days ago and went the next day to Yu Lin PSB to re-register. They were pretty firm that it had to be done within 24 hours. Lo and behold, we couldn’t find the entry stamp in my passport (i have a lot and it’s a mess). Fortunately i had my boarding pass in my pocket and that was good enough for them….
Chinese supermarket minefield….
Astrill has been awful lately. The past few days I haven’t been able to play any videos (they start but then stop almost instantly). Is it just me or other Astrill users also have this?
(Oh, videos on Chinese sites are loading normally)
Thanks Merior. Your suggestion seems to be working 🙂
Avoided a potentially long, grimmer-than-usual Spring festival
So today i tried accessing Astrill on Firefox and discovered that Firefox has deregistered the Astrill add-on as being “unsafe” or suspicious. I’m hoping Astrill register a new one with Firefox cos I really really don’t wanna be using IE or Safari. Anyone else had this issue and any suggestions (maybe installing an older version of Firefox?).
Oh yeah, i also got a message from Astrill which was along the lines of “due to some stupid users the IOS app will be down until after the holidays…”. Anyone else get this?
Finally, seems The Guardian is unblocked now?
Pro sports that you can see live, in the stadium, whether that be soccer/Aussie rules/NBL/NFL/NHL etc. etc. That’s what I really miss. It’s one reason why weekends here are just normal days, nothing special.
Been having problems with Astrill this past week….
In which country are you getting your Chinese tourist visa? I’ve never been asked to provide a return ticket but last time in Australia I did have to give my itinerary. Perhaps in your itinerary you could mention something like “overland travel to Vietnam” or another bordering country.
Chinese gf says that it can indeed dry the clothes. It’s the last circle on the big round knob
I get this one. Syntha is a solid brand and I subscribe to this seller and have it delivered monthly (sometimes I rip thru it faster).
On 11/11 they had it for 329 kuai, which is a good deal for China.
I’m using Amazon China more and more, especially for stuff that I auto reorder, like protein powder. I get a 10% discount and have it sent to me automatically. I’m also finding that Amazons range is increasing and the number of products shipping direct from the u.s is growing….just realized this sounds like an ad 🙂
That’s a pretty good deal. Guy just told me he paid 1100 for 3 months.
Agree with DrJ: you need to seriously consider the city you choose. Chengdu is a good one, but truly, some in China are unfathomably grim, and “the cultural experience” can rapidly become “get me outta here!”
My Chinese girlfriend and I live pretty frugally. I asked her if we could support 3 kids with the salary you mentioned. Her response: “very difficult”. Anyway, good luck with it…..
Health care can be expensive and the public hospital experience unpleasant . I had a routine operation earlier this year, with a one night stay and the bill was 12000 rmb. I refused a battery of unnecessary tests and procedures which would have raised the fee to 15k +
