Vincent NLParticipant
I found a workaround.
You can use the ID number of a Chinese (friend). It even works if that person already has a Weibo account. I did it a few weeks ago and I can still access it.
Vincent NLParticipantForeigners can go straight to the 3rd floor. No need to wait in line at the entrance.
Vincent NLParticipantthis sounds pretty awesome. Especially with Rick’s walking game.
I have to work every other weekend, so for me the 20th would be better than the 13th.
Vincent NLParticipantQuote:Threw down a deposit on a fixed gear bike from these guys yesterday. Looking forward to it!Too bad I just bought my fixie, but will check out their shop soon.
I’m sure the quality of mine is a bit less, but I’m still enjoying it. So much easier to cycle around instead of a MTB with huge tires.
Vincent NLParticipantQuote:Klinkt als een belachelijke fiets, Vincent 😉🙂
@ justin,
I can pick it up this weekend, so maybe an afternoon or weekend would be nice to go for a ride. What kind of bike do you have?
Vincent NLParticipantThere’s a company that trains Chinese to teach Chinese and often they’re looking for foreigners to attend their class (1 on 1). It’s a 2 hour class and free for the first 10 or 20 lessons. then you can either choose to continue with pay or bring someone else and you get more free lessons.
Although for most (if not all) of the teachers it’s their first time they teach, but because of it they prepare it really well with a ppt. You’re only asked to fill out a form at the end of the lesson to tell them what to improve.
I quite enjoyed it when my universty hadn’t started yet.
Their qq is 2513129858, it’s called IMCPI and it’s at renmin nan lu 3 duan 人民南路3段
Vincent NLParticipantyes, think that’s where I bought it.
they have 2 types. 1 for around 1500 and the other 1880 which is lighter and has some small extra’s. You can mix and match the different colours.
I chose a white frame and steering wheel with orange wheels and saddle to keep it in the colour of Holland 🙂
With it you can actually cycle backwards, but that was quite annoying, because the paddles can’t “rest” and will always be moving if the bike if moving. So I asked them to put the chain on the other axel (how to say that?) which was easily done.
Vincent NLParticipantfunshion offers a lot of movies and series, although not all are available. You can also search in english. Another is pptv and more were mentioned in an older post.
Vincent NLParticipantI found it, although the bikes weren’t what I was looking for. Mainly mountainbikes and some small girlish bikes.
Also the price wasn’t as cheap as I was hoping for. Instead I went to a normal shop and bought one of the fixed neon coloured bikes.
Vincent NLParticipantI’m sharing an apartment with a Chinese couple and they asked me to share the fees. Although I didn’t pay more then 200 I think.
Maybe good to hear from some others, but I’m sure people will try to make some extra money
Vincent NLParticipantCan someone explain where the bicycles are sold at Jiu Yan Qiao? I’ve been there quite a few times, but never saw any bikes being sold. Is it some side street somewhere?
Vincent NLParticipantthey just finished building 2 big complexes at the end of 领事馆路 the other side of the american embassy.
Many shops at the 1st floor are still empty, although I’m not sure about prices and if the rest of the complex is just for offices or also to live. But could be worth checking out.
Vincent NLParticipantI did mine online through i-to-i too (60 hours) and it went quite easily. Usually the tests were quickly checked by the online teachers and the learning before each test was kinda interesting.
Although I’m not sure I actually use any of the methods I learned there. But it’s a nice introduction to teaching and looks nice on your resume.
Vincent NLParticipantI got the certificate, but it’s real easy to get, so even if companies demand for it, it’s a bit of a laugh. By no way am I a qualified teacher now, I learnt so much more by just standing in front of the class or watch other teachers teach.
I guess for them it’s good to say (all) their teachers have the certificate as it sounds professional, altough people don’t know exactly what having it actually means.
So to get it or not is up to you… it’s not difficult and I think everyone can get it. You just have to invest a bit of time and money.
Vincent NLParticipantyes, it can be a pain in the ass to get information in general. But normally things work out well and once your classes start, just talk with your classmates and somehow some always receive the latest information before the teacher tells you. Don’t worry about it too much. And for class excursions (once a month) the school will also arrange insurance I believe.
Vincent NLParticipantI only did the spring semester and actually those exact dates I also forgot. Better to ask the foreign student office to help you. They should know the dates in advance, although they don’t hand them out.
Vincent NLParticipant@ AM,
the classes start at Sept 3rd. But you should register at the foreign student office between the 24th and 29th. Orientation and placement test is at the 29th at 9am. See Chuanda website for foreigners for the exact details (bottom).
Oh and don’t expect too much info about when a holiday is. Last semester we were informed a few days in advance only. And when a holiday is during the week, they will move those classes to Saturday and/or Sunday.
Vincent NLParticipantwhat about de-dust-ifiers??
Vincent NLParticipantChuan… as is Sichuan
Da… from da xue (university)
All universities have their abbreviations here
Vincent NLParticipantit’s still China 😉
