I think you could get along fine for ¥6,500. A decent studio or small 1 bedroom will run you around ¥1,500, maybe a bit more depending on how ‘western’ it is. It really all depends on where and how you live. I probably spend around ¥3,000 a month and that includes fees for Chinese lessons and some other things. I’m the worst cook in the world, so I eat out a lot, but eating out is really cheap. If you drink a lot, expect that to have an impact on spending as well. 🙂

I’m pretty sure it’s in the Louis Vuitton building close to Tianfu Square. Standard cut (for a guy) is 280 RMB. I think for women it starts around 8 bajillion.

Hey Peter –

I went there about 3 months ago and took the bus. It’s definitely beautiful, but I would never, ever consider taking the bus again. It took 14 hours to get there and 19 hours to get home. The roads are terrible and oftentimes shut down for long stretches. Take the plane. It’s worth the extra money.

I usually head to the theater at Wanda Square (万达广场) on Er Huan Lu, but I think there is also one at Chunxi Lu. Maybe someone else can confirm?
