Owned and managed by the founder of short-term apartment service Hakka Homes is a bar that goes by the same name. Commonly referred to as Hakka by expats in Chengdu (or by it’s Chinese name, 院吧), this is a laid back home-like bar which frequently hosts a large, expat-friendly crowd on weekends.
In the fall of 2013 Hakka underwent renovation, transforming the interior into more of a club than the sit-down bar that it used to be. The verdict is still out on what kind of place Hakka will become after this change.
Hakka Homes is located on the 12th floor rooftop of the SOHO A-Building on Kehua Beilu, just south of the well-visited ATT KTV complex. When you exit the elevator on the 12th floor of SOHO, turn left and follow the path until the end, where you will find Hakka Homes on the right side.
Beer is inexpensive at Hakka but mixed drinks can be expensive. Overall prices are fair, expect to pay around 20 yuan for a beer here, which has come to be the standard price for a beer among expat hangouts in Chengdu.
