memory foam mattress toppers
Do you have a link to one of these? I brought mine from the states a year ago which was a pretty considerable hassle. I don’t regret it though, they are amazing.
The specific listing that I bought from is gone now. I’ve helped 2 friends purchase them all from different sellers. But I paid 332 RMB shipped for a 5cm thick 150x200cm mattress. Pretty sick deal.

September 13, 2015 at 2:00 am #48153Rick in ChinaParticipantThat….is a WINNER! Not just for, like, basically disposable socks, but – baby socks. They have baby socks! For, like 5 mao each. My wife always complains when I let baby run around in socks and socks get dirty etc (which, even when they’re whatever they cost isn’t that big of a deal) but….. 5mao, they have pairs of baby socks for 5 MAO.
Great find. I’m going to order many, many socks. And throw away many socks. 😀
October 5, 2015 at 8:32 pm #48450AsturiahParticipantThought I’d share a few too:
Coffee beans from this shop (they also have a selection pack that’s pretty nice)

Sausages from this shop (the cheese sausages are amazing)

Italian type pasta from this one:

Belgian chocolates as a treat for Christmas from there:

Belgian beers ( but also British, etc… ) from here:

Got a few more for cheese, lime, booze, happy to share if you’re interested in those too.

Is the shipping cost based on weight? Will it be expensive/impractical to buy liquid like beverage since they are dead weight?
Is it OK to buy food like the fresh sausages above? Doesn’t this need to be refrigerated while shipping or something?

It totally depends on the seller. Some are super quick. Some will rip you off. It’s smart to be wary of vendors on Taobao because everything can be faked: reviews, testimonials from buyers, images and descriptions, etc. Perishable items can be sent packed and frozen, but you are taking a risk (probably a small one).
November 29, 2015 at 8:23 pm #49025elitechaseParticipantDear organizer, I’ve got a question here. It’s been unsolved, even though I tried quite a few times on Alipay.com. hope you can help me out here. I’m an american technically. I only have the US and a couple of other countries issued credit cards. Could I add it to my account on Alipay? I’m in China now. I actually tried it, but it wouldn’t accept it, showing errors of the card information. I wonder how other foreigners managed to add their cards onto their Alipay accounts.
Any explanation or suggestion is appreciated.

That’s not a bad idea. Although personally I order 90% of things online now from JD.com and not from Taobao. Other than having a wider selection, I do not really miss Taobao.
November 30, 2015 at 2:30 pm #49047RayParticipantI’m using Amazon China more and more, especially for stuff that I auto reorder, like protein powder. I get a 10% discount and have it sent to me automatically. I’m also finding that Amazons range is increasing and the number of products shipping direct from the u.s is growing….just realized this sounds like an ad 🙂

Can you link to that? Are you saving much by ordering on Amazon? Protein powder is the type of thing that I am afraid of purchasing on Taobao because of the issue of trust.
November 30, 2015 at 4:25 pm #49049RayParticipantI get this one. Syntha is a solid brand and I subscribe to this seller and have it delivered monthly (sometimes I rip thru it faster).

November 30, 2015 at 4:44 pm #49050elitechaseParticipantHi! can I use non-Chinese bank issued credit card for Alipay?
I’m having issue adding any of my cards to my Alipay account.
Thanks
November 30, 2015 at 5:08 pm #49052DevenParticipantYes you can, I use my mastercard from the US and it’s only a debit card. You don’t add the card to alipay. You just select foreign credit card when you go to the payment page I think. I’ll have to check again

Don’t know if you can link a non-Chinese card to your account or top up your Alipay balance with it, but you should be able to use it for doing payments.
If you’re here for a while I recommend you to get a Chinese bank card though. It’s easy and quick to get, very cheap and makes things more convenient.
You can also top up Alipay balance by phone card(China Unicom and China Telecom cards I believe, but double check) or by filling out a form and paying at Postal Savings Bank of China.
