AmCham in Chongqing will be doing an informative seminar to answer questions about social security for foreigners in China.  I’m wondering if anyone here partakes in their company’s social security program or has any questions about it.

Social security benefits have been available to foreigners in China starting in 2011 and approximately half of all foreigners working in China are covered.  But it’s confusing because it’s up to each city to decide the percentage that each company should contribute.  It’s currently popular in Shanghai, but I have no clue how it is in Chengdu.  This may not be even something that many of us are interested in though since many workers in China only plan to do so short term.

If anyone has any questions about or experiences with Chinese social security, please share.  I will forward these to AmCham in Chonqing and then share a summary of the the seminar as an FYI type of thing.
