Closing a bank account info needed

I may have to leave China for a year then shall return in a years time because I am definitely coming back so now I am thinking if I should close my bank account because I would come back and use the same bank. 

I can use Union Pay in the countries I plan to travel to which would make it so much more convenient to use my Chinese bank card rather than carry cash. 

Would anyone have any info if it would be okay if I didn’t close my bank account not use it for a year then come back and start using again.

Any info would be great thanks.
