For the last 2 years, the Chengdu Entrepreneurship Meetup brings business people together on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
This month’s topic: “Travel- Made in Chengdu”
Gather 7:30, starts around 8pm. Free entrance
This free event features a panel discussion, followed by Q&A, idea pitches and a networking session.
December Guest Speakers:
1. Derek Zheng
Chief Architect / General Manager of iGola – Chengdu. His passion is developing robust systems to help Chinese people travel internationally, and discover where to go in their destinations that only few know about.
A veteran of several startups in outsourcing, real estate, management and travel, Derek has extensive experience in building systems to cater to tens of thousands of users daily who are looking to enjoy themselves more. Derek earned his BS from Southwest University of Science & Technology, as well as his MS from Southwest Jiaotong University.
Derek is an avid traveler to East Asia and Europe. With iGola, Derek is helping more people achieve their dreams of travel and localized/personalized experience.
2. Carol Pouget
Graduated in anthropology and humanitarian studies, Carol has been living in China for more than a decade now and has worked many years in the development field. In 2008, she co-founded Global Nomad, a consulting company focused on promoting social entrepreneurship in Tibetan areas. During that time, she collaborated with many local travel agencies on building ethical practices within the tourism field. She now works for Westbound Event Agency, an event planning agency specialized in the Tourism Sector and had recently created a platform for travelers in Sichuan : Westbound Station
3. Joseph Hake
Joseph is a managing partner at CoolTrip, a company currently providing Weekend escapes to chengdu residents. Joseph received an MBA from thunderbird school of global management, and has been in china since 2003. He came to china originally to teach English, and has since been involved in a variety of industries and had worked in China, Laos, and Nigeria.

Jordan Porter
Jordan is the founder and Chief Experience Officer at Chengdu Food Tours. Originally from Canada he arrived in Chengdu in 2010 to study Chinese and quickly developed a passion for the city and its cuisine. He is also an active member of the entrepreneurship community and involved in organizing numerous events such as Startup Weekend.

I’m two months late. Dropping by Chengdu next week to assess a project. Got tasked with creating a Pho nominal experience in Chengdu. Anybody got ideas, a cent for your thoughts.
