Hip hop or Contemporary Dancing

Hi,

Any help is really appreciated!

I am looking for a dance studio. I would prefer Hip Hop and Contemporary dancing, but I am also into African rhythms, such as Afro Power Dance, and also Zumba.

I live near Tongzilin, so this area is preferred, but Im willing to travel for a good studio 🙂 Anyone know of a good place..?

Hi Nele,

There are a handful of dance studios that have hip hop and contemporary dance, the first one that comes to mind is called Sinostage. I’ve been there before but can’t remember the address – I will forward a link to this thread to someone who knows though, I think he can provide more helpful info than I can.

My girlfriend runs Sinostage, but it is not actually a studio in a traditional sense. It hosts masterclasses for visiting dance teachers in Chengdu. You can see some videos from their recent workshops here:

My girlfriend actually focuses on contemporary (commercial) and hip hip dance. She is the artistic director of a club in Chengdu (CC) and she teaches dance at the SiChuan conservatory.

I think the best thing would be for me to introduce you to her, and maybe she can help you find what you are looking for. We live in YuLin, so maybe we can get together with you for lunch sometime.

Yes, I sent him an email with a link to this thread. I don’t think anyone is more of an authority in the dance studio scene in Chengdu than Eli’s girlfriend.

My girlfriend (Koko) is busy teaching tomorrow and Wednesday, but we could get together Thursday evening if you are free. Maybe do dinner somewhere in Yulin or TongZiLin – there are a lot of good restaurants in the area. I get off work around 6, so any time after that would be fine with me. Hi I wanted to try and find the studios Sinostage but when i google it the only website i find is obviously in chinese, anyone have info on how to get there or where i can find info that is in english?
