Weekend Hiking Tour from Gexianshan

In Brief:
Follow a path through the orchard to the mountain gate of Gexianshan, continue through the hills to find an abandoned isolated temple. After the hike, take the mini van to Bailu Old Town, take a stroll along the river to enjoy the relaxed life there.

Level of difficulty:
It is a moderate hike which will take around 3—4 hours, and can be either reasonably easy, or challenging, depending on how often you exercise

This hike begins with a nice short, flat walk up the Mountain Gate of Gexianshan. To begin with, go through the orchard in the hill, and once get to the Mountain Gate, the view becomes wide and open.
After enter the mountain from the gate, a trail leads to an abandoned temple and on the way hundreds of ginkgo trees are planted in the mountain area. Even in this mountain there is still a house which is used by the local to offer the backpackers snacks and drink.

Follow the trail to the ridge, the mountain view is fantastic since layers of layers of mountain will come into your view. We continue our walk and will walk through a chicken house, from where we ascent to a bamboo forest, and walk by the local farmer’s field and a famer’s house. Before finishing our hike today we will follow a valley trail to a cave which is called Five Dragon Cave. And we will take the local mini van to Bailu Old Town.

After arrival in Bailu Old Town, a short walk here will give you enough time to explore this water town. Finally we head back to Chengdu.
