Looking for second-hand/used motorcycle

i’m in the market for a used motorcycle. i’m looking for a proper motorcycle, not a motor scooter. so at least 250cc. does anyone know if there is an area of the city (or in huayang) where they sell used ones? it doesn’t matter much if it’s a yamaha or a chinese brand, just something that would be fun to head out of the city on.

Hey Peter,

The best place in Chengdu to buy motorcycles is at the motorcycle market on the third ring road to the North of the city. I bought a 200cc dirt bike there a few years ago and they have all kinds of bikes for sale there. New bikes, used bikes, street and dirt bikes, etc. I don’t know the exact name of the market but taxi drivers or people in that area of the city will know when you ask about the motorcycle market.

Another good place to collect info on motorcycles in China is My China Moto. I actually met the guy who runs the site (Carl, an American who spent years in Chengdu) at this exact market. Here’s the address to the forum: http://www.mychinamoto.com

thanks much! looks like a good site. i think i’m going to head to the north market this upcoming week. any idea of any of the street names in that area? just so i can find it on a map before i head out.

Actually no, I’m not sure of any of the street names! Last night I ran into another Chengdu expat motorcycle rider (Mark) and I asked him about the address of the market (with this thread in mind) and he didn’t know either. “摩托车市场” will get you there though if you ask about it.
