Hey gang, quick question for yall about TV. I had a company offer me some decent cable thru a satellite for 2800 RMB per year. Is that a good deal? Anyone have any contacts or phone numbers for companies that come and set up the satellite TV? They dont need to speak English, just be dependable (by China standards) and offer a good deal?

    Thanks so much!

There was a thread about this recently on the forum which you can find with a search, I’m not sure where 2,800 sits on the price scale but satellite is definitely available here. Although it’s a few years old now, we published a post about satellite tv service in China, with some info on how it works: Satellite TV in China

If you’re quick you can catch ‘Karate Kid Part II’ on HBO.

damn.. for the lazy who don’t want to download, get baidu player and go to yiyi.cc, they have most any shows you want to watch – and it’s fast. The quality isn’t great, but has authentic/accurate Chinese subtitles if you’re watching with a local 😀 tv.sohu.com is better and doesn’t require baidu player, but is significantly limited on the shows it has on hand.

It’s free. Spend the 2800 on a mac mini and hook it up to your bigscreen with a cheap wireless kb/mouse and good to go 😀
