Hi! Our roommate is moving out at the end of December so we need a new roommate.
About us: We are one awesome/nerdy swedish guy who can translate while singing between like, 5 languages (works as an english teacher) and one (IMO) awkwardly funny, inappropriate and messy puerto rican girl (art/english teacher and sometime radio host/voice actor). We like eating, painting, studying chinese, teaching, cooking, dancing (she at bars and classes, he at shamrock), having house parties, gardening, entrepreneurship, sustainability, watching anime and sci-fi, working out to lose our spare tires, hosting couch surfers. We can both be messy and both get into downward mood spirals (ie just get anti social) so outgoing, happy people who like cleaning would be awesome (we always join in when someone else starts cleaning but somehow getting started is so hard for both of us hahah)! We can be noisy.
About the house: The room is mid sized and has a big bed and closet, large window that you can sit in. House is full of random plants (included at one time a bathroom jungle) and wierd arts and crafts projects that are half done. Huge DVD collection of tv shows, award winners and animation. Kitchen is small but functional: we have pots, pans, bowls, chopsticks, fridge, microwave, blender, food scale, oven, etc. We have a rooftop with a garden (well it’s winter so not at it’s best), a trampoline, barbecue that no one knows how to use, a fish pond and a nice sunroom which is sometimes a classroom/art studio but most often where we host parties. It’s in a traditional style complex in a local middle class neighborhood so it’s an older 7th floor WALK-UP with lots of windows and air flow from both sides. It’s not a shiny new empty space with a few pieces of IKEA furniture but it has personality. It is in Wuhou district near tons of awesome bars, restaurants and fun shops. Bars: elephant bar (chinese hipsters), little bar (live music), middle bar (artsy), machu picchu (foreign hipsters), Restaurants: casa Maria and a ton of cheap local restaurants. 10 minutes from Nijiaqiao subway, 15 minutes by bike to Tongzilin Carrefour, 30 minutes by bike to the PSB, 2 minutes walk to fresh fruit and vegetables (but you have to go to the western supermarkets to find any fresh meat thats not pork).
The nitty gritty:
Room is available from the end of December/Beginning January until the end of March. At that time our contract expires and we both planned to move but you can keep the contract if you want. The room is 1000 per month paid quarterly and 1000 deposit so to move in you need 4000RMB. You will get your deposit back when the contract ends or you move out. We split the cost of utilities and usually pay once a quarter around 500RMB each (varies on the season). PS: We hope you have friends (we like meeting new people) and a strong/enthusiastic personality. Please dont call if you have a drug or alcohol addiction (I mean like a real addiction, we like to party, just not EVERY day), or are bulimic (we have lots of food. It wont end well.) or have any kind of mental/personality disorder or just are a plain old grouchy whiner who is easily offended. Also, we are dumb asses and like making dumb moderately-offensive jokes, we hope you are not too serious. Ultimately, we would rather find a new friend to actually hang out with, not a tolerable stranger who we will happen to live with.
We speak english, spanish, chinese, german, swedish, norwegian etc and have no race or gender preference.
