I’m going to explain what my experience was like in that city. It looks great. And it’s fairly developed. However. I would never want to live there again. As a foreigner, it’s difficult to socialise much. I find if you are a foreign male and you want to make friends, you may be able to,do so. With other local guys. But bear in mind, if any chinese girl in Deyang is seen with a foreigner. People will hate her and gossip about her. Here’s my story.

I had a girlfriend from Deyang. I didn’t live there yet. I’d go to visit her. And people would look at her with hateful expressions. I would ask her why they look at her like that. She told me it’s cause she’s with me. Eventually we broke up. Then Shortly after my company moved me to Deyang to teach. I met another girl. We dated for a short while. People looked at her the same way. She moved to Beijing for a short while. After I moved back to Chengdu, she moved to Chengdu as well. And it was easier for us to be together.

During my time in Deyang. I remember beeting two girls at the public square close to Mc Donalds. They were nice. They invited me to dinner. I went. While we were talking, two guys approached us. One talked to me, the other talked to the two girls. I only remember the guy as “Jason”. Later they asked us go back with them to the sports clothing store the two guys worked at. So we did. Later we decided all of us would go to KTV on friday night. I agreed. Friday afternoon. I text Jason. He doesn’t respond. I text the girls. They sayd “Sorry we’re busy”. So nothing happened that night. Monday I go see Jason. He told me they all went out on Friday night. I asked why they didn’t call me. He said he had to get back to work and I had to leave. I text Jason later and I told him I disliked the city. Then he asks me “Is that cause you don’t have any friends?”. It was evident to me by that point the two guys approached us so they could come in between me and the two girls. I thought about texting Jason and saying “Those two girls told me everything you said”. But I didn’t because if I am right and I convince him of that, well I could have a mob outside my front door the following morning ready to put me in a hospital. To avoid trouble I left these proud nationalists alone.

Two weeks later, A female friend from Chengdu comes to visit me. I show her around Deyang. While walking around minding our own business, some guy comes out of nowhere and starts pushing me around. Telling me to get away from her. And the next thing I knew alot more people started approaching me. The girl told me to run. So I did. They ran after me, one shouted “Revenge for the chinese people”. I saw a cop. Ran towards him. They all backed off. The girl explained everything to the cop to keep me out of trouble. She went right away back to Chengdu. I contacted my recruiter who I was working for and told them to get me out of this city now.
