Thanks for the offer, but I think I’ll just buy one on taobao.

Everything I’ve ordered in the past few months took weeks and weeks to get there, I don’t know if I can wait that long!

I will keep you guys updated on how it goes. Just need to put money on my taobao account, and pick a seller!

I recall you can get some from “Chengdu Waiwen bookstore”, address: 5号 Zongfu Rd, Jinjiang, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

For reference books, just check “Xinhua Wenxuan bookstore”, or more professional bookstores near universities.

So I ended up ordering one on taobao, and it just got here today. 🙂

The seller had a sale for CNY, so I paid 978rmb for Kindle paperwhite wifi + charger + protective screen + leather cover + delivery fee.

And I chose the “pay on delivery” option, so it took a little longer than usual (about 5-6 days), but the guy was OK and let me open the box and check everything was inside before paying!

Here’s the link, if you’re interested in buying one. So far, it looks legit, and works fine 🙂

First time I read about Kindle was on this forum. Thanks Charlie & co.

@ Lou: I presume that with this Kindle from Taobao you get the usual perks like access to the lending library? Is this a newer model without the ads on the menu page?

I got a Paperwhite about a month ago also. Incredible device, I find that I’m reading much more than before (and reviewing a lot of what I read, too).

The lending library is a Kindle Prime feature, so you have to sign up for that service to receive access to that. And ads are on my Paperwhite, but they are very unobtrusive. I heard that the ad-free Kindle’s aren’t available internationally.
