So we ended up buying a new motorbike since sadly all the second hand ones did not come with any paperwork and we weren’t willing to take that risk.

It’s still worth checking the bikes markets, I believe there’s one North of the 3rd or 4th ring road (sorry it’s been a while so can’t be sure )

We’re looking for a 400 to 600cc but not something sporty so we can manage long journeys in the West of Sichuan.

I think we might try visiting the market if it’s still open. We’ve found one 600cc here in Ya’an but it’s a very sporty bike. The best we’ve seen here was 250cc but we’re thinking we might have more possibilities in a big city like Chengdu.
