How is it being tied in with the amount of land available?

Thanks Brendan. I am actually working remotely on this one as it’s too short to warrant a visit. Ian is helping me with information on U37 Creative as I think it’s the best fit for BA at this time.

Having said that, I’m very interested in the art scene. You said that there’s a noticeable shift toward encouraging art from within the government. Is that uncommon across broader China? Is this shift unique to Chengdu or is it happening in other big cities? If it’s something definitely unique to Chengdu, it could warrant a larger story.

Thanks Ian. For some reason, I’m not seeing it in my inbox. Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

And as a backup, what are people’s favorite places in Xiaotong Lu? Even if it’s a few years old, it sounds pretty established and cool. Might there be more variety there?

Ok, I think I’m going to focus in on the Poly Center.

So, Here We Go and Helen’s are both closed for sure?

Have people been to the Sinostage Dance Studio?

And anything more about that robotics or archery class?

I’d also be interested if anyone has suggestions on specific new shops or new hotels right in this area?

    Thanks guys.

So, contenders are Xiaotong Lu, Poly Center and U37 Creative.

Are Poly Center and U37 Creative both larger buildings that hold several cool places or are they more defined neighborhoods?

Also, which of these places are easily accessible by the new metro line?

Thanks again for the help everybody!

Thanks for all the info everybody. The Poly Center sounds like it’s got some great places, but how new are they?

It sounds like there’s also some support for Xiaotong Lu near kuanzhai xiangzi. Any specific spots you’d recommend in that area?

I love Jacob’s suggestion of the new Metro Lines as well. How are those working out? Do they connect with any of the two areas I mentioned above?

Thanks Brendan. I think the story is going to work out great. Jacob has been amazing to talk to so far and we’ve got a really great photographer lined up. Should be good. For dates, if you’re interested, I’ll be out there from the 23rd to the 28th.

Great! Thanks Charlie, and thanks for the tip Alison. I’ve had a few people PM me and I’ll be getting back to them today. Charlie, what’s the name of the girl you were thinking of? I find that it’s kind of hard to choose someone just through written communication, because I don’t have a sense of how fluidly they would translate in the moment. A personal recommendation from you would be great. I’ll keep you updated.

Sounds great. Yeah, I’ve been in touch with Jacob at natooke for a while. We actually ended up having a close mutual friend. Its a tiny world sometimes.

You’re the man. Looking forward to what else you get. The story would be for British airlines business magazine, the one they put in first class for all the bigwigs. I’m going to be in Chengdu doing a story for the regular in flight about fixed gear bike riding in the city. I’d love to add on the school story while I’m there. As a fellow home brewer, I’d be more than happy to congratulate you on an amazing brew. Thanks again Ben.

Amazing! Thanks Ben. I would be extremely grateful for any information on it. What would be especially helpful is any info on the school’s name, if it has a website, or any contact information for the people working there. It’d be much easier to do a story on this if I can contact people ahead of time. If you can get any of that, I’d be happy to buy you dinner when I’m out there at the end of May. Thanks!
