I’ll be arriving in Chengdu in early August and will be looking for a roommate near Disney English which is just NW of Tongzilin (I think). I’ll be teaching English for a year, maybe two.

I like to be neat and tidy, I’m a 52 year old female, but pretty young at heart and also hope to do a good bit of hiking/sight seeing on my days off. If you haven’t found a roommate by August, keep me in mind! I’m hoping to find an apartment with a western-style bathroom… I don’t mind sharing with a roommate who is also tidy!

    Hi!

You might have this room rented long before I arrive… but thought I’d throw my hat in the ring, just in case. I’m a 52 year old American female looking to rent a comfortable room for about 13 months while teaching English at Disney English. I ‘ll arrive in Chengdu in early August. My contract ends at the beginning of Sept 2017, but I may resign for an additional 15 month contract… However, since I’m hanging on to my house in the U.S., and the mortgage payment, I need very affordable accommodations in China.

I don’t suppose the bathroom in this space is a “western style” bathroom??? In case you don’t find a roommate by August, photos and an approximate rent amount would be helpful. I’d like to find a safe space for around 2,000 RMB/mo or less… not sure how reasonable that is at the moment, but that’s about the extent of my budget. Are utilities above the rent pymnt or included?

    Best regards,

    Rachel

How much is the monthly rent for this apartment? It looks like a 2-bedroom– is that correct? Do you have any pics of the kitchen and bathroom you could post? Any information you could share about average utility costs would also be helpful. I expect to be living in Chengdu around the 1st of August this year…

Thanks for any information! It looks like a very nice apartment!

    Hi!

I’m not yet familiar with the layout of Chengdu, but I am moving there from the U.S. in August 2016. The rent you quoted in this your message (1800 including utilities and internet–correct?) would be at the upper end of my budget.

I am a single female, age 52. I am quiet, shy at first, but friendly, neat, and very responsible. I will be working for Disney English in the Wuhou District on a 15 month contract beginning on June 24, 2016, ending September 25, 2017. I am a self published author and would like a quiet place to work on my second book when I’m not at work. I would like to explore as much of the local area as possible while I am there and an open to establishing a friendship with Chinese families. At present, I do not speak any Mandarin, but Disney is going to supply me with access to Rosetta Stone – Mandarin.

I realize my arrival is about 7 months from now, but if you think you may have a room available at that time, I am very interested.

You may have already found a roommate, and I won’t be in Chengdu until August 2016, but 1300 + utilities is within my budget! I’ll be working for Disney English in the Wuhou District… I don’t know if that is close to your apartment location or not…do you???

Would like to get in touch, but I’m not familiar with Wechat…???
