Thats was my initial reaction … But most people I’ve run into who have lived in China, Taiwan (mind you, some were 10 years ago) have all mentioned peanut butter specifically … That if from the states, one can really begin to crave it 😉

Ray & Les … Thanks a million for your feedback … Truly appreciate it 😉

Ray, i agree, id rather select my own apartment ( my gut feeling is the same), and do understand that the Chinese taste in housing is different (I’ve learned from my sister-in-law and recent landlord, lol) … I had to laugh, tonight i was looking on a Lonely Planet map of chengdu and most of the streets that were actually printed, aside from the major tourist spots, were in Yulin) … I have seen the prices in Tongzilin, and definitely higher 😉 Les, my Chinese colleague says she lives in Dongdajie, and she loves it (since it is close to the bars, restaurants) … So ill check that out too …

Dusty: i ran across a blogger who had recently been transferred to Shanghai … and he said that you can spot a person from Chengdu a mile away, since they’re a bit dusty 😉

    Thanks guys!

Charlie, that sounds cool … You guys enjoy the show … Id love to hang out with you all soon, i arrive in a week … Btw, how long is the Chinese new year celebration, in Chengdu? Ive heard different lengths from almost everyone (15 days, a month, a week) … My sister-in-law is Chinese, so we celebrated tonight as well, sans the fireworks … Happy New Year!

Thanks a million, Chris and Charlie! Truly appreciate your tips

Thanks guys, now i will indeed go with the iphone … Charlie, i was talking to the employees at the Apple store in Los Gatos, Silicon Valley–where Adam lives and where i grew up–and they wanted to get photos and info about their Chengdu store … They’d love your article, definitely send it to Apple … Get additional exposure 😉

Theft – ok, great, that makes me feel a whole lot better! … Now i can shift my mindset … Its the one thing people keep warning me about china (the subways) ive mostly lived in big cities, so im sure its similar …

Thanks for the warm welcome … Hope to meet you both and hear about what you’re doing 😉

    Cheers! Suzanne

P.S. Charlie, Adam says hi 😉
